“I popped into my local Bevan’s last week. I wanted pigs in blankets and pheasant. They didn’t have any in stock but said if I called in near Xmas they would have these products. I missed 2 phone calls from them and picked up on 3rd. They said the order was in. I told them I hadn’t placed an order, but as it was kind of them to phone I would buy the products. The bill was large but I didn’t question as I was in a hurry. When I emptied bag at home I noticed an extra product which I didn’t see the assistant place in bag in shop.It was a very large piece of picantha rump steak. I returned immediately to shop to return steak. The person who served me was churlish and said it was part of my (non) order. He didn’t apologise and said he couldn’t sell it now before giving me a cash refund.
I had a similar problem before in this shop a few years ago. I can’t recommend this butcher.”
“Be very careful when buying at Bevans in Long Acres garden centre..there ere 2 pork chops in a pack and marked reduced to but only original price was shown(use by 22.04.21) When I asked what is reduced to was told that is THE reduced price???All.other items that were reduced had original price sticker and reduced price sticker The chap behind would not have it and insisted that this is the reduced price but could not tell me what price was it reduced from? Allthough the reduced items wit before and after prices were in front of him to see it
on other reduced packs of various meat.
In conclusion I would Never Ever buy anything from this butcher as it is obviously dishonest and I would think what they are doing is against Standard Trading...totally and blatantly dishonest...”
