“Bunq is one of the first neobanks, and I have huge respect for them. They evolved a lot over the years, and I was there in the beginning when they just started their services. They didn’t have all this fancy features and tools as now, but that only says that they are improving and want to provide better services for customers. Personally, I really like the artificial intelligence “finn” and tools that help to manage money in a correct way. One of the tools is called salary sorter, and that one is a game changer. As soon as my salary comes it sorts money into several money pots automatically.”

Sure, the premium price are kinda overpriced, but the multi currency flexibility and instant notifications add real value for frequent travelers. I did hit a few small bugs early on, and card delivery took a bit longer than expected, yet support stuck with me until things were sorted.”

Voordat ik een internationale SWIFT-transactie deed, heb ik bewust contact opgenomen met support van bunq om te vragen of er nog iets was waar ik rekening mee moest houden. Ik wilde fouten voorkomen. Support hielp mij met de juiste SWIFT-codes en gaf later zelfs aan dat ik proactief had gehandeld en dat mij niets te verwijten viel.
Toch leidde de transactie uiteindelijk tot een verlies van ongeveer €5.300 doordat de regels van bunq en die van hun eigen SWIFT-partner niet op elkaar bleken aan te sluiten.
Wat voor mij wrang voelt, is dat dit risico niet duidelijk in de algemene voorwaarden van bunq staat uitgelegd. De informatie bleek alleen indirect te vinden via een Together-pagina die vervolgens doorverwijst naar een externe website waar je meerdere keren moet doorklikken om deze informatie te vinden.
Als klant vraag je vooraf om hulp bij een bank waarvan je verwacht dat zij als financiële professional ook een adviserende rol hebben. Ondanks dat ik alles zorgvuldig heb gedaan, ligt het financiële risico uiteindelijk volledig bij de klant.
Ik deel dit zodat anderen zich bewust zijn van de risico’s bij internationale transacties waarbij externe partijen betrokken zijn.”
