“I purchased carpet and lino removal and replacement for a house. The contractors sent by carpet giant left the premises with supplies I provided (glue, grippers but even all the snacks I left them), pressurised me into paying them then and there but promised to come back in two days to rectify the snags.
Two days later and they are not here, they are not picking up the phone and when I called from another number told me they won't come as I already paid them.
I called carpet giant and was told by a director they would sue me for leaving a review or contacting my credit card provider and that their disclaimers do not cover doors catching the carpet, contractors failing to come as agreed and nicking my items. I presume the disclaimers also cover leaving debris all over the new carpet for me to clean up.”
“worst experience - bought the most expensive carpet in store £39.99 per square meter + most expensive underlay in store for stairs, waited a week to be fitted - the fitter attended and gave excellent advise, the carpet wouldn't look good as the turn on the stair - i paid £355.00 + £45 for fitting for 12 steps!!!...after speaking to croydon manager that i would have to pay extra £160.00 to match the pattern, - weak response from croydon store manager apparently no ones fault, but i have to pay extra £160.00 making total of £515.00 for 12 steps!!! - miss sold by lazy sales person - who didn't even seemed bothered to be serve me - seemed like he was after his commission only - now i have to wait for outcome....”
“Came with the WRONG CARPET!! Refused to offer any compensation. Would not even pay deposit back by bank transfer had to go there to collect my money. This company does not treat customers with fairness. They will ask you to sign a contract where you are liable to pay extra fees if you need to reschedule; if Carpetgiant messes up your order they will not offer you ANY compensation. THEY OBVIOUSLY DO NOT CHECK CARPETS BEFORE GOING OUT TO FIT.
I telephoned beforehand to find out how much extra the fitting charge will be for coming to fit in east London. The manager told me £60. When I got there they wanted £145 for just fitting 10m of stairs carpet. Should have walked out then, but as I really liked the carpet went ahead with the order. A company that operates like this should not be trusted with any deposit money - you should insist on payment only after fitting.”
