I am arranging for landlord and building insurance on behalf of my husband and after completing an online form someone called me to collect more information so that they could provide a quote. However, the person refused to speak to me because I’m not my husband. It was actually me who sent a request for a quote and who will be buying insurance on behalf of my husband. I’ve always done quotes on behalf of my husband with reputable insurers and never had an issue. If we are happy with the product and decide to enter into a contract with an insurer, of course, my husband will speak to the insurer and give authorisation to speak with me, but at the quotation stage we are not even the clients and will not be until we understand what product the insurer sells and if it is suitable for our needs. The person on the phone was rude and just lost a client. We will not be considering speaking or getting quote from this insurer again.

Terrible insurer - they tried to use every trick in the book to not honour the landlord insurance claim. Very dodgy.

Corrupt and scamming. Just cancelled my landlord insurance with Arkel Elite and financed through Creation, have been charged £32.33 for a missed payment although my account is actually up to date and payment was taken on 28th May by Creation, they are obviously scamming customers to make a few quid. I happily accept my cancellation as doing a comparison has saved me a further £10.00 per month anyway so thanks CIA, maybe next time communicate with your clients before trying to rip them off.

Landlord insurance. Beware of underinsurance penalty. Whilst renewing a landlord policy I was told that the insured amount meant nothing if the company later decided the rebuild cost exceeded the rebuild cost they had set and updated. This could result in a huge deficit. E.g. if you insured a property for £250,000 and the rebuild cost was later assessed to be £275.000 you would be underinsured by 10%. They would then reduce your insured amount to £225,000. This would leave you with a deficit of £50,000. When I meticulously checked their online policy there was no mention of this. If you bought online you would have been misled. You are only informed if you purchase by phone. Other companies do not impose this penalty - they honour the insured amount. After 10 years I have left CIA. During discussions with them I have found them to be duplicitous. Best avoided.

Avoid! Tried to fill out an online form but they called my mobile before I had even completed the form. Rude and intrusive pushy sales techniques. Just lost a potential customer.
