“A good fill-in for our regular meal program. However, should be used moderately as it can become quite boring if one is too lazy to make some effort in feeding oneself tasty food.”
“The Dinner Ladies dishes are the most delicious meal delivery service I've found. They are a little on the expensive-end though.
You do have to prepare sides like rice, naan, salad, or steamed greens for some of their dishes. Other meal delivery services often have side dishes like this available to order, but Dinner Ladies don't seem to offer many side dishes like this, so you have to make sure you've got the right ingredients on hand to prepare sides by yourself.
The main thing I wish was different about Dinner Ladies was their NDIS participant invoicing system. I'm grateful that they now offer the 30%/70% split invoices, but I wish their payment system was set up to send my invoices directly to my plan manager, like most other meal delivery services I've used. It may not seem like much to have to forward on the invoice myself to my plan manager for reimbursement, but that extra admin steps is actually a huge barrier for a disabled person like me to simply feed myself each week. i have extreme fatigue and brain fog, and very little capacity for administrative tasks. It's already a huge effort for me to jump on the Dinner Ladies website, sign into my account, and choose my meals. The extra steps of then downloading my split invoice subsequently involve logging on to my plan manager's system portal, uploading the invoice, typing a relevant description of the type of support the invoice relates to, and explaining that the invoice is already paid and that I'm requesting reimbursement into my personal bank account. This whole process can take me up to an hour sometimes and I often collapse from exhaustion afterwards, unable to do anything else for the rest of the day.
Dinner Ladies, I implore you, please can you do whatever it takes to change your payment system so that my invoices can just be forwarded directly to my plan manager for payment? This is not a minor barrier for me. Some weeks I choose not to order Dinner Ladies solely based on the fact that the task of forwarding my invoice to my plan manager for reimbursement is too daunting that week.”
“As a busy mum, Dinner Ladies has been a lifesaver! I tried one of their dishes tonight and it was absolutely delicious — full of flavour, perfectly portioned, and so easy to heat up after a long day. It felt like a home-cooked meal without the effort. Perfect for nights when there’s no time to cook but you still want something wholesome and tasty!”
