“"Avoid at all costs! Rouge Trader. The word 'builder' has to be used advisedly as Danny Marks, over prices and significantly under delivers, in terms of specification, building standards and completion requirements. Sadly, like some builders, he takes short cuts and bodges things, hoping he will never be found out. When challenged he will attempt to mislead his customer with builder’s baloney. I can’t go into too much detail here and now, because I am highly likely to be issuing proceedings against him for Breach of Contract in the next few weeks. However, in essence, he ‘walked off my job’ without notice, or any dialogue about it beforehand, leaving me with a partly built garage, with an open side section and un-felted roofing boards amongst other things. Perhaps disclosing his ‘guilt’ he sneaked back to the site very early in the morning to avoid meeting me, to recover all his tools from my neighbour’s garage. He left, leaving all the considerable spoil, rubble and building waste. Needless to say I am massively out of pocket, having paid most of the job in advance and considerably inconvenienced having been promised a garage built in 3 weeks (4 weeks if unforeseen problems arise). Yet, with his antics this disaster went on for many more weeks. This followed after Danny disastrously misaligned the grounds works and reinforced concrete base of my intended garage build, with me doing to the digging out and laying of new footings. But after this concession by me, he continued to build to such low standards, with absences and ‘illnesses’ (distinctly following the aftermath of the recent matches by the England Football Team), leading to significant delays. After my last question to him around ‘levels’ (there is an expectation that walls and joists are going to be vertical and horizontal) he seems to have made his decision to 'walk'. Do yourself a favour and get a proper builder. Danny does not even have a Van! If you hire, don’t be surprised if he turns up on a horse!".”
