“Me, wife and family have attended Doncaster races for many years but after my daughters experience on St Ledger day this year we will never put another penny their way.
Stopped at the gate, asked to undertake a search before they could gain entry which they willingly did. Nothing at all found, no words spoken and then the glorified security staff still wouldn't let them in.
I've sent a reasonable amount of emails explaining this and asking them to check the cctv footage but they simply will not accept it.
Both were so looking forward to the day with tickets I had purchased for them.
Basically the response I get back is about policy which I have read and my daughter and boyfriend abided by their policy but were still refused entry.
Someone called Nikki is now not responding to my mails and is Basically calling me and my family liars which makes me sick to my stomach after all these years of supporting this racecourse.
I hope whoever reads this thinks twice about risking the same experience!! I whish I could get legal advice to take this matter further but the cost would outweigh the £130+ of wasted money I have already contributed to these con artists”
“Attended St leger day for the last 25yrs..never again an absolute shambles...I attended the cheaper enclosure...one burger van...very very long queues to get a drink...no off course betting...ladbrokes have pulled out...no coverage on big screen of champions race in Ireland.. no bookmaker taking bets for off course racing..and finally the parade for the leger is only for those that pay the little extra to attend...I am going to assume that attendances are down...after yesterday s shambles hopefully the powers that be may have a rethink..but I doubt it...any thats will be my last visit...hello york which treats all of its customers with a little bit more of respect”
“Company sends spam email. I don't know where they got my email address from, I live hundred of miles from Doncaster but they are flooding my inbox offering me hospitality packages. They clearly buy and sell personal data, don't give them any of yours!
Of course I can click to unsubscribe, but I never subscribed in the first place, and if I do that, they have my email address confirmed and can sell it on.”
“We couldn’t bury sweets because we were ‘underage’ as the sweet shop was in a bar where people were “drinking” then we felt like we were being kidnapped as they HAD to follow us up to our box and had to tell our parents. We are 12 so should be allowed to buy SWEETS. We weren’t even thinking about buying alcohol”
“We found the bar staff had little or no experience, really poor service! The plastic drink glasses youre meant to carry round all day is pathetic! Even when you do take them back for another drink, the price of the drinks remain the same, but they're supposed to be 50p cheaper than replacing the plastic cups! Also, serving guiness from cans that don't give you a full pint! I must really complain about the inexperienced bar staff though, couldn't even open the pull ring on the cans properly and the quality of the ale was terrible. I love donny racecourse but thats me done after all these years.”
“I went to the meeting on Thursday the 13th of July 2023. I queued with around thirty to forty other people to buy a ticket at the grandstand entrance.
There a was onlyone man in ticket office serving customers. After a long wait I paid for my ticket and then went round to the members enclosure where the management’s main ticket office is situated to complain.I noticed at the members entrance there were lots of staff on duty and consequently no queues.I asked the receptionist if someone from the ticket office would speak to me about the matter. The lady did try but apparently no one was available. The price of alcoholic drinks were frankly outrageous. The two half pint bottles of beer I bought cost me £12:40. I certainly won’t be going again.
