“What no drivers wants: a flat tyre... Ali & his mechanics team patched & repaired it within 45 mins flat on a busy Friday afternoon. No charge. Excellent service.”
“Replaced two tyre valves whilst l had breakfast and didnt charge me!All employees very pleasant and helpful on a busy saturday am. I have had similar experience in the past and the Strathearn road crew deserve their hogh star rating!!”
“Booked an appointment on line to have 4 tyres replaced £284 Arrived at 9.30 a.m only to be told by a very apologetic member of staff that they were short staffed and very busy and I should come back tomorrow Needless to say I'll not be back.”
“Took my car in as there was a noise from underneath, they charged me £301 but when I got the car back the noise was still there, I was horrified, I'm a disabled pensioner and they took my whole pension of me, went back but nothing but aggression, shocking behaviour, so I warn other drivers don't go near, absolute cowboys, discrimination against disabled pensioners,”
“Very impressed by the swift, efficient service we received today at Strathearn Road. The staff are friendly and helpful; they had the tyres we wanted, told us how long they would take to fit them which allowed us to pop round the corner for a cup of tea and everything was ready when we returned. The waiting area is clean,. has customers' toilets, has tables, chairs and comfortable sofas and there's even a TV to watch..”
“I went to the Musselburgh branch today to get my car tyres changed, the person at the reception told me that they are busy today and come tomorrow.
I asked him very nicely if he can check my car tyres if they are safe to drive and under the legal limit, he told me no he can't and to come tomorrow.
It was only a minute job to have a look at tyres but he was not concerned about the customer and other road user safety and was reluctant to do his job, this is not professional at all.
I have been there many times and every time they are a bit reluctant to do the job and ask to come later or tomorrow. Once they kept my car for 2 days for a fault and returned the car with the engine light on as they were unable to find the fault and only changed my car battery in 2 days.”
“Just had to leave my citron C1 in farmers over the Easter weekend, thought it was going to take a while to get fixed and get the parts. Got it back 2 days later, it was amazingly priced and the guys there were very understanding. Will go back and will have my MOT with these guys.”
“Farmers is my go to place ,being a single woman you hear all sorts about garages ripping you off , Iv been using farmers at portobello road for a few years now the guys down there are really friendly and nothing is a bother .,I’m so grateful to the guys for always sorting my car out for me can’t recommend the place enough ,”
“Definitely Avoid Farmer Autocare
My son’s girlfriend visited the Farmer Autocare on Monday 10th August on discovering that she had a puncture on one of the tyres of her Mini Cooper. They told her that they could not find the tool to remove her locking wheel nut and said that it would be best to get all four locking nuts removed at the same time. The price quoted was £160 (this did not include the replacement tyre and valve which cost an extra £70) including the four replacement standard wheel bolts. She agreed for them to go ahead with this thinking that this price would be competitive. She then collected the car after the work was completed.
On checking on the phone and online afterwards it seems that she may been greatly overcharged.
I phoned another Farmer Autocare site in Paisley (same company) to be told that their price to do the same job would be £70. Yes that’s £90 less for the same job!
On the Checkatrade website (where members of the public can find reputable tradesmen) it says that the average guide price to replace four locking wheel nuts is £65.
Locking Wheel Nut Removal Specialists quoted £80.
Wheelnutman quoted £50 on their website.
Kwikfit quoted £90 over the phone but this included new locking wheel nuts and a new key to remove them.
I spoke to the Edinburgh store manager Michael Gray who was not prepared to compromise with the price (even after pointing out to him that another Farmer Autocare store was providing the exact same job for less than half the price - £90 less) and then subsequently phoned the Farmer Autocare head office to complain and spoke to the area manager Jason Horne who responded in the same way unfortunately. They had her money and were really not interested.
How is it possible for a national company like Farmer Autocare to charge vastly different prices at different stores for the exactly the same job? Over double the normal price? Can it be that each store is simply allowed to make up their own prices?
I would say buyer beware and would certainly advise any poor unsuspecting customers to avoid shopping there in the future.”
“When for MOT..............while sitting waiting a female customer came in obviously aggrieved about her MOT failure. Her car, driving well, could not believe the number of faults found. Got my MOT which failed and read like a restaurant menu. Took my car out and sent to another garage. Passed, with no work needed. John Vass, beware, Livingston is a village. Go like this and this branch will be out of business within 12 months. This customer 10+ years for exhausts and tyres, will never return.”
“Great service here. Front drivers side tyre was slowly losing pressure and needed wheel rim tidy up and refurbishment. Kwik Fit had previously said they didn’t have time to do this. Farmers completed a great job, checked other tyres at my request and said they were all fine. Left having just laid out only £35! One happy customer.”
“I had a problem with my discovery sports, kept flashing up that my battery was low, was a little concerned so I called farmers at blackhall and they told me I could pop along right away as it only takes minutes to check battery
The lad I was dealing with could not have been more helpful and very polite, the battery was okay, turned out the fob battery was low, I would never have thought about that
I didn’t get the guys name , but would just like to say a big thank you to farmers”
“Car tyre was damaged after hitting unseen pothole. Farmers autocare at st John's road edinburgh, who were busy at time ,said it would be an hour and a half, I was in a hurry as had to be home but I had no choice as couldnt drive the car.
Went for a wee walk and came back to find the car tyre getting changed, so was done in about half hour. Very happy with service and quickness of changing the tyre. Thank u”
“We visited your shop last Sunday for a new tyre at your Maidencraig store on Queensferry Road, Edinburgh. We were very warmly greeted by Scott. We have both worked in a customer service environment over the years and we just wanted to let you know how utterly astonished we were with the service we received. Scott is a breath of fresh air and his customer interaction is second to none. We have used your shop before in the past to renew tyres and to be honest, we have always found the staff helpful and very courteous. The service is fast and reliable and the facilities excellent. Past experience has always been that customers are quick to complain but reluctant to compliment so we just wanted to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to Scott and the guys.”
“Very suspect MOT Failure!
I recently used Farmer Autocare in Edinburgh for and MOT for my Lexus. After announcing in a smug manner that my car had failed, I was then told in an equally smug manner that they could not fix the car as it was a hybrid. I took the car to the main dealer and they said they'd never seen this part fail and actually only carried one spare. Not sure what to conclude from this! I've never gone back.”
