“As a Gay teenager in the late 70's, I became deathly ill and was hospitalized with a novel mystery illness that no blood test could identify. Medical specialists were baffled as to why an otherwise very healthy 18 year old was suddenly so very sick. I slowly recovered and went on with my happy life, never questioning my brush with death. It was short lived. In 1983, the first of my friends rapidly wasted away and died at the tender age of 22. Over the next 20 years, the majority of my friends got sick and one by one died.
