They did to me what they did to all the other people on here. I was told my account was "Fully Verified" and had the account for months. I had 3 clients pay me on gocardless, 1 of which was a new client, the other 2 were established for the past year, paying me on stripe. After those 3 transactions, they sent me an email that they closed my account and did not give me any response but only STOLE MONEY!

after those 3 transactions, they sent me an email that they closed my account because I did not meet their satisfactory use.
and they would not give me the money that was processed and did not mention they would return it.
Thankfully the next morning, after not able to sleep because I was so upset, I thought I was going to be thought of as a scammer by the new client, but I was able to still login, and cancel those 3 payments.
So that worked, I think. I don't know if they actually took the money from my clients.

But I don't trust them now.
I did appeal, but no way will I use them again. I don't trust them at all.
I just used my Authorize.net account to turn on eChecks, which does the same thing.
but I have to wait about 7 days for it to clear instead of 4 days. and I have to pay $10 per month now, but worth it, to not worry about them cancelling me, like GoCardless did.
Terrible, I even told support how it was not fair and they did not apologize or anything, they only said, okay we will close out the chat for now.

“Connected through Xero where I have my other businesses. They took all my personal bank information and a few days later said I have been cancelled. They gave no reason nor any contact info to find out "why". Do not give them your bank info until you know you are going to be "accepted"”

We were "verified" now they're saying we're not but have collected our money from customers and won't release it. I thought paying lower fee than using Stripe for cc payments. “Gocardless hijacked funds from a customers payment. This Company would appears to be a complete scam. On June 25, 2020 we applied to receive ACH payments through the Gocardless for Xero via Xero directly as it was recommended integration, but that decision ended up being a HUGE MISTAKE. After signing up, we were notified that we could start taking payments immediately, while the account was being verified. We logged on to Gocardless and uploaded the requested copy of a bank statement, and assumed everything was in order.
On July 29, a large customer paid a nearly USD$4,000 invoice via the Gocardless ACH payment link directly on the Xero invoice, and we were notified via Xero that the customer paid the invoice in full. Our bank however never received the payment. When we contacted our bank, they saw no incoming wire payment, though the customer has a receipt showing the payment, and the amount had been deducted from their account. We logged onto the Gocardless portal, and saw the payment in there, less the GoCardless fee, but the account still appeared to be unverified, as it stated at the top of the page "You can now start taking payments! We're verifying your account to activate payouts - this normally takes a few working days and we'll email if we need anything else".
We contacted Gocardless on several occasions, and were given canned go responses. We then contacted Xero directly, and were told to contact Gocardless directly.
Over the next several week we opened several support cases with Gocardless, and were told that the "review that took place on your account, which unfortunately was not completed successfully" and basically that our account has been closed (while retaining our customers payment to us). We then had several correspondences with Gocardless only to be told that they cannot simply pay the amount into our account, and that they would be in contact with our customer to reverse the payment.
More than a month on, and the payment is still in the hands of Gocardless, and to this date, customer, nor the customers bank, has never been contacted by Gocardless regarding the payment.
The customer at their own expense did a trace on the the payment, and it simply shows paid to us, though it is sitting with Gocardless. The customer has a receipt showing our invoice has been paid, and we would appear to have lost face with the customer.
Now, Gocardless is saying we need to ask our customer to contact their bank, and ask them to reverse the charges for the invoice they paid more than a month ago! This is completely unprofessional, and leaves a huge scar on our reputation with the customer. Meanwhile, the customer has other outstanding orders and bills that will need to be paid, which they won't until this is all taken care of.
So, today is now September 3rd 2020, and we are still awaiting a payment to our bank account, or at the least, a reversal of the charges to our customer. There appears to be no customer service phone numbers, and Gocardless simply refuses to call us back to discuss the next steps.
Over the past month+, we have had multiple people spend countless hours both trying to track down the payment, and now we have to shift our focus on trying to win back the client's trust and business that until that point had been thriving. We are now at the point of seeking legal counsel to discussed the hijacking of this one payment, and damages caused to this customers relationship.

They allow you to start collecting payments right away but then after asking for company documents they just disabled my account with all the payments still inside! After emailing them, they said there is nothing they can do and all the payments have been cancelled.
How this is legal I do not know. Customer Service didn't have the decency of telling me all my payments had been cancelled, so I just had customer payments waiting 'On Hold', with no idea whether I was going to paid or not (Turns out I was not)
Horrible customer service too, takes almost 2 days to get back to simple requests. Would never recommend this company to any one.”

I have been using GoCardless for my business since 2012. When we first started using them they were a small start-up and we had remained loyal and supportive of them for over 7 years.
Sadly their service today is nothing like it was in the past. Over the years there have been some issues with their service but they had generally been helpful in getting things fixed.
However, they service today is absolutely shocking and I would urge anyone considering using the company to be extremely careful.
It recently came to our attention that GoCardless had implemented something on their customer sign-up forms for customers to state that their bank account required multiple signatories.
Hundreds of our customers had either mistakenly chosen this option or they had become aware of a loophole with the GoCardless payment system.
It transpired that selecting the 'multiple signatory option' meant GoCardless were supposed to request additional information from customers prior to being able to collect payments.
However, in our case, GoCardless incorrectly informed us that they were able to take payments even though the customers had not completed the additional process required by GoCardless.
Consequently GoCardless kept informing us that payments had been collected when this was not the case. Hundreds of our customers were able to enjoy using our service without paying us anything due to the GoCardless error.
The issue caused us a loss of over Β£22,0000. We brought the flaw to the attention of GoCardless who admitted the issue but have refused to compensate us or apologise for this serious error.

Following a further review of this issue with our Product team, we have discovered that we did experience a bug in the dual signatory process for mandates created before January 2018. When payers completed the online authorisation page via the redirect flow before January 2018, we sent an email to the administrator email on your account that stated that you would be able to collect payments from them.
In fact, this was not the case, as the payer still needed to complete the dual authorisation step of their mandate setup. The issue was limited to one automated email with unclear messaging that stated the mandate was active and ready to have payments collected through it, where in fact it was still awaiting a second customer signature via the dual signature authorisation form before becoming active. Consequently, payments were, perhaps unknowingly, being created against mandates that were not yet able to have funds collected through them.
