“We recently completed a long distance (house ) move with Golden Eagle which unfortunately did not end well. I will say that the organization and setup from the office side was good and aligned with our moving timetable.
Our load of house possessions arrived to our new location according to schedule and the two local moving guys that assisted the driver were efficient, courteous and respectful of our furniture, etc.
This negative review is based after our goods were unloaded from truck and brought in house. For some inexplicable reason, the driver and/or staff that loaded our goods from the holding point chose to dismantle a significant number of items which I will detail below. The was no logical reason to take this many items (that typically would be left as is) apart for packing and transport. The result was well over 7 hours of personal time to put the furniture, etc. back together.
Moving and Unpacking house possessions is challenging and stressful enough, but when you add significant time to reassembly once you settle in is totally unnecessary.
The following is what we had to reassemble
- The front tires of two bikes as well as their respective pedals were taken off and taped together.
- The pedals from a Pelaton stationary bike and the handlebars were taken completely off and taped together.
- The four small wheels on antique cedar chest, which were permanently affixed to bottom, we’re pulled completely out for no reason.
- The four bottom legs to a jewelry dresser, which were permanently affixed to the bottom, we’re unscrewed for no reason.
- The permanent top play gym area of a birdcage was totally taken apart for no reason.
- The two doors from our stainless steel refrigerator were taken apart, which is fine, but when we arrived to the house the driver told us he didn’t know how to reassemble. We had to put a special request into Golden Eagle to get a third-party company to come out the following week to reassemble the doors. This resulted in not having a refrigerator for food or beverages for almost a week.
- The interior shelves of our computer printer stand we taken apart.
- Various hoses and attached tools to my shop vac we’re taking off.
- two shades from two living lamp shades were not reassembled after unpacking.
- The interior shelves from a large entertainment center were taken out and not reassembled.
- the interior shelves of our long TV stand which were screwed in were taken apart and never reassembled.
Again, the disappointing and frustrating fact to our move was that the driver/team lead did not bother to reassemble the items listed above.
