“WE HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM! THIS IS NOT OUR REVIEW BUT IT MAY AS WELL HAVE BEEN! Do not buy from them. Be very careful. We bought bedroom furniture which has laminate doors. They had to be replaced, ALL of them a few years after installation as laminate was coming off them. Now the same problem has arisen. Laminate coming away from 3 of the wardrobes. As we are now just out of warranty period Hammonds will not do anything. Oh except suggest we go to B and Q and buy glue.
If you buy from them then expect product to last approx 5 year”
“Had our fitted wardrobes yesterday 30th November
We where not happy with the result
Wanted slight adjustment there qouted a appsolutly ridicules figure like £1500
For shoe rack and drew adjustment as very shallow drew
Very overrated company far too expensive and standard not very good
Do not buy anything from this extortionate company
Date of experience: 30 November 2023”
“The veneer started to peel off our bedroom furniture after 11 years .the whole veneer literally dropped off the headboard. No help at all from Hammonds .wouldn't even tell me what glue to use if I could’ve stuck it back on. It’s now held on with cello tape as I cannot afford to replace . It should last a lifetime if taken care of.”
“We ordered a wardrobe for our newborn’s room, and we thought we would get a great service based on all the positive reviews we saw about this company. They sent a surveyor first who took the measurement, then the day of fitting we noticed that they left a large visible gap between the wardrobe and the wall( pictures attached), although in the design they sent us and we agreed on it was shown to be wall to wall. We tried to phone them to ask if they could fix this mistake, they pushed back blaming us for not checking the surveyor’s measurement which were wrong and they kept referring to a clause in their contract relieving them from any fault or damage they caused including incorrectly fitting the wardrobe. After hours of arguing, we agreed to pay again for them to send someone who fixed it in less than two hours proving that the job should have been completed properly in the first place. I do not recommend this company given this terrible incident and we canceled our plans to use them to fit the wardrobes in the rest of the bedrooms.”
“Very expensive wardrobe fitted in our bedroom 8 years ago. Long wait time but looked good to start with. However, the glue has failed and the thin plastic veneer has come away on all doors. Hammonds have refused to do anything (only 5 year guarantee) and offered new replacement doors at over £1000. So if you want an expensive wardrobe that fails in less than 10 years then choose Hammonds.”
“Shockingly bad service. Our heavy cupboard door fall off with hinges within 1st month and our baby narrowly escaped. Extremely bad customer services as there was no response from the company for your complaint until we engaged a lawyer. It has been 5 months and we are still living with a risk of falling other doors. Hammods did not co-operate at all.”
“Appalling - astronomical rip off
Custom designed and manufactured apparently
It isn’t
Cheap two dollar chip board junk sold for thousands
Bully boy tactics to pressure you to accept and pay after it all doesn’t go their way”
“I had sliding wardrobes fitted approx 4 years ago and they are literally falling apart. The gloss material on the bedside cabinets I also purchased is literally peeling off. The closers on the wardrobes don’t work, I have been told by another company that the rail system needs replacing. I am trying to get hold of Hammonds now as all this should be covered under manufacture warranty so I am told by a different company but no one has called me back despite emailing teice. Also one of their email addresses on the website is no longer valid?
The quality of these products and the price they charge is outrageous….. it’s a different story when they are trying to get a sale…. This would be a zero star rating for me!”
“Awful product and even worse customer service. Over priced and not fit for purpose. Whole kitchen units needed re painting due to substandard material . Even now , 3 months later that paint is now chipping away . Incorrect iron work provided , and director relations that call you a lier ... not a great company I my experance”
“Fitted shelves fell down, very dangerously. Never seen such bad handy work, combined with bad service. Please do not ever use this company. There were supposed to be 8 hooks attached to back of a large, very heavy fitted shelving unit, 4 hooks were used... None of which were attached correctly! The one hook that was actually fixed to the back of the shelves didn't even have a wall bracket to hook onto! The remaining 3 hooks were not attached properly to the shelving unit (they were loosely hooked to the wall brackets after the shelves had fallen), a slight shake of the shelving unit would have brought it down sooner. Fitted shelves were installed above a desk where a child studies! Thankfully it didn't end too badly with no major injuries. To note other things... bad craftmanship on the handles of the fitted wardrobes and drawers with no accessible way to fix the handles (only reason they haven't fallen is cos they're actually supposed to be supported by the floor). They were very difficult to contact and had the cheek to coerce payment when the job was no where near finished... despite them delaying and delaying and ignoring phone calls”
“Same as everyone else is saying. Designer promises the earth. Long wait for fitting then cancelled date and changed fitter. Unable to get hold of anyone on telephone, all contact through “my account” which is completely frustrating.
COVID seems to be being used as an excuse for no contact. Can’t customer service staff take calls from home as many other companies are managing to do?
Expensive products, flimsy fitting. The cheap plastic fittings on door tracks seem inadequate for weight of doors. Wardrobes only fitted in March in a spare bedroom, wardrobes used infrequently. The two end doors are not square with the frame, one has a gap of 2 inches at the top. The “soft close” mechanism is faulty so the doors crash into the frame.
Have received a short, curt email offering to send a fitter to have a look on 15th July. No apology. Let’s see if they stick to this date.”
“Incorrect units sent , incorrect units designed, substandard units sent ??? Where do we go from here? 2 week from delivery still no written acknowledgement, of concerns and significant delay from customer service, so leaving young family without a kitchen”
“Order FF881
Well The CEO words on the brochure means absolutely nothing, customer service is shocking!! We had a bathroom and bedroom we wanted to change. The bathroom was done first 6 weeks ago and still not finished after three visit as it’s not fit for purpose, customer service blame us for agreeing to the plan... I didn’t realise I had to go and measure everything after I thought that’s why you have a designer and a surveyor????
But that’s what they use as a get out clause and we assumed Hammonds furniture was made custom to measure by professional craftsmanship well that’s what the CEO claims no it’s all standard size cupboards which you can buy from B&Q for a faction of the price.
Unfortunately I have to give a star but they don’t even warrant that. It’s absolutely shocking what they portrayed and what you get.
With all this we are cancelling our bedroom and going else where as I could not trust these... I now have no confidence in this company.
We have not had an apology just we are not going to do anything about it.... wow great customer service
So just be very careful if you use these and if you do good luck you will need it”
