“NEW LAW IN PLACE! $50,000.00 per day fine if any company makes it hard to unsubscribe or takes money imposed by the FCC. Contact the FCC. 50k/day PER CUSTOMER. They learn now if you keep up with the new law. Report them.”
“I signed up for free trial and got a nice welcome email and another email to say they were working on my request but in the end I received no usable information (even though I later discovered it was freely available elsewhere). Then the free trial ended and I didn't cancel in time so they took subscription fee of €80.64 from my account - ok fair enough, I should have cancelled on time. But then (and here is where it gets spicy) after taking the fee, they actually tried to take it again a second time in the same day! Thank God I'm with a large and reputable bank as this set off alarms with my bank's fraud team who stopped the second payment which they called a "shadow transaction". I immediately cancelled my subscription but a month later my bank contacted me again to say The Handbook was trying to take yet more money from my account (despite my contacting the Handbook to cancel the subscription) and that in the opinion of my bank, The Handbook were acting fraudulently. So I ended up having to get my debit card cancelled and reissued just to stop The Handbook from cleaning me out. So for being 2-3 days late in cancelling my subscription last month, they have taken €80.64 from me but so far they have TRIED to take over €320 in the space of just one month. Major scam alert!”
“Unfortunately the Handbook.com ( the entertainment website ) does not offer appropriate cancellation policies. If you fail to miss their cancellation deadline by even a single day, they will charge you for a full year of use regardless of whether or not the product is relevant to you.
I chair a mental health NFP in Australia and was trying to source talent for a TVC to promote our cause. I paid the initial fee (despite the highlighting of Free Handbook) but didn't for a moment imagine that if I missed the cut off by one day that it would cost me a full years subscription with no return or prorata is an unethical way to run your business”
