I contacted customer service and was told I'd be responsible for the postage to return (even though it was their fault) OR I could keep them (give them away) and only receive a 50% refund. This place is a totally dishonest scam.”

You will enter into an endless cycle of disappointment and frustration! As well as be fleeced out of your money! You'll enter into a cycle that you have absolutely no control over and you'll be over charged for them falling short and their failing to keep their end of the agreement.
Not to mention, every time its a different cleaner with varying cleaning skills from quite good to absolute rubbish. Most of Handy's cleaners don't speak much English so each time it's necessary a) to be home for the booking, and b) to go through what does and doesn't need cleaning every single time, using sign language, pigeon English or hoping they have basic common sense. They'll also charge you extra for them to being cleaning materials while they use yours.
I've been trapped as their customer for a year with a once a month booking, each time hoping to either break even and settle into a routine of set hours. But every time it's been an absolute nightmare having to deal with them. There's no phone number to call to actually speak to someone and the only way to make contact is via email. Trying to get money owed you back from them because they didn't fulfilling their agreed booked hours and actually stay till the end of the booking that you've prepaid for is absolutely soul destroying, at best.
There's also a mind boggling difference of 'how long it takes to clean the same flat. I have a small one bedroom flat. Hardly a 'big job' but somehow their cleaners take any number of different lengths of time to clean it. I've gone from 5 hours to 2.5 hours bookings because some cleaners are efficient and others just take forever. When the cleaner takes less time than you booked, Handy customer service team say you can only be refunded with credit put onto your Handy account for a future booking. Even though the Handy website states you have to option to be refunded in money back onto your bank card. But they won't. So I've had to rebook each month to get the over payment value back, but have never broken even!
My most recent booking was for 2.5 hours - and having already got £10 credit on my Handy account from the previous time they failed to stay for my entire booking - because prior to this 2.5 hours was the most common time it took previous booking's cleaner to finish on a 3.5 booking (leaving me chasing Handy for the surplus hour's payment that wasn't used) but this time it took the cleaner 1.5 hours (????!) and then she buggered off.
When I contacted Handy to notify them of this and ask for (yet another) refund of (yet another) surplus hour that I had prepaid for but didn't get, they told me that "because the booking fell below their minimum 2 hours (remember, I booked 2.5 hours and the cleaner left an hour early of her own accord!) they wouldn't refund me the difference".
This is a cycle of madness!! Handy will charge you for 2 hours regardless, as this is the minimum booking, even when it's their cleaner who leaves before the 2 hours is up and even though you originally booked for more than 2 hours and you couldn't stop the cleaner from leaving early!!!
Handy (cleaners) are a complete rip off and should be avoided at all costs!!!”
