When an agency puts terms in writing and then backs out, it’s not just unprofessional, it’s dishonest. Tenants should be extremely cautious when dealing with HCGB. Keep records and don’t take anything at face value.”

I honestly don’t know where to begin with how terrible my experience with HCGB Letting Company was. If I could give them zero stars, I absolutely would. From start to finish, this company was nothing but a massive headache.
First off, the customer service is non-existent. Every time I tried to get in touch with someone, I was either ignored or told someone would get back to me “soon.” Spoiler alert: “soon” never happened. I had to chase them down for weeks just to get basic information about the property I was interested in. When they did finally respond, the answers were vague and unhelpful.
The property I rented was in dreadful condition. It was advertised as “modern” and “well-maintained” – in reality, it was filthy, with broken appliances and leaks all over the place. When I reported the issues, they made empty promises to send someone out, but nothing ever got fixed. I ended up dealing with mold and a constantly running toilet for the entire lease.
And don’t get me started on the ridiculous fees. They charged me for every little thing, including “admin fees” for paperwork they never even provided. I had to pay for a cleaning service when I moved out – despite the fact that the place was spotless when I left. Of course, they took no responsibility for any of the issues during my stay.
To top it all off, getting my deposit back was a nightmare. After months of waiting, they claimed they couldn’t refund it due to “cleaning costs,” even though I had left the property in perfect condition. Getting a resolution was impossible, and they gave me the runaround every time I tried to escalate the issue.
In summary, HCGB Letting Company is the epitome of everything wrong with the rental market. They’re unprofessional, dishonest, and downright unhelpful. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away.”
