“I am so disgusted with this company, for their lack of empathy, customer service, and attentiveness. Before I even drove off the lot my card was charged more than the agreed upon amount, I then spent a half a day on the phone only to go in circles with the company and nobody could give a clear answer as to why this happened. I received the rental due to a car accident with my personal vehicle, I was told to print a bill and give it to my insurance company so that I could hand it off to the insurance company to pay the bill. My card has now been charged $1000 altogether and trying to get any employee on the phone is nightmare. I would never recommend Hertz if a customer is looking for an honest and reliable company.
NEVER TRUST THIS COMPANY if you want a reliable corporation with your credit card company

“I was over charged $583.97 in San Francisco. Called took an hour to get them to recognize their mistake they promised to issue credit within 5 - 7 business days. Followed up a month later and they can't find any record or rental. Held for an hour for Supervisor never did get one. Ended up having to dispute charge with American Express since they made the reservation on my behalf. AMEX issued credit same day.
Hertz used to have excellent Customer Service. They are pushing to eliminate any person to person and move all interactions to online and they have outsourced their Customer Service Department to overseas. What a shame. A trusted travel partner for over 35 years and there isn't even a "vehicle" in place for me to voice my concern. Fortunately I have also been a member of Emerald Club so I have options.”
“After 100+ rental experiences with different companies, this is the worst. You know the look of renter when you don't want extra insurance? The look that says "were going to get you for something..."? I am always careful therefore, even photo documenting cars before I leave. But this time there was an existing scratch UNDER the car that I obviously hadn't checked, which I have 3 witnesses in the car did not happen during the rental. But, since I didn't crawl under the car and pointed out this scratch on the black plastic under the number, they charged me for damages. In their contact with me, they effectively call me a liar.
SO, if you end up using Hertz anyway, make sure to check and document status even UNDER the car. And set aside time to go back to the company to meticulously point out every little existing scratch. Insist on video documenting the whole thing, since their main business idea seems to be to charge people for damages that they have not inflicted responsible for, as long as they miss documenting them at checkout. It all seems like part of "teaching" the customers to buy the overpriced insurance they sell.
I will never use them again and recommend everyone to avoid Hertz.”
“Absolute Rip Off! £185 for half a tank of Fuel! another £120 in other charges that made no sense. started at £120 for 4 days and ended up at £640 for 4 days and a few house and half a tank of fuel.
Be warned, they don't care, had the chance to be reasonable and help a bit, but were not interested!
Don't use Hertz.”
“I returned the car at Luton Airport. I was later charged £35 smoking fee. I don't even smoke and no one who was in the vehicle even smokes! I have reported this to Hertz over 10 days ago and was told that the car smelt of smoke and the charge is correct I have appealed this since and haven't heard anything back. It is 100 percent impossible that this was caused by myself I am a non smoker (and have never smoked) this is even declared on my life insurance”
