“I remember when it first opened it opperated from a small garage size premises in Fulham. Hitchcook glass was well-known and it was young Richard dicks son who started the wood yard it was not very long before hatchbacks took over larger premises in Fulham, and also acquired harbour and parks in Dalling Road Hammersmith. I have now retired but I used hitchcocks all my working life. I remember Paul the manager at Fulham he was there for years, what a helpful man, in my opinion it was miles ahead of the rest, I used to do a lot of work in central London and they would deliver my materials at 7 am. Old fashion service at great prices. Thank you for all the good service you have provided to me over a lots of years”

“Bad sales man , has an attitude and reflect his personal problems on customers, I tried to get the right product one question I asked and the sales man didn’t do his job properly and get anger, if you buy something never ask questions, I don’t recommend it to any one unless he got stuck.”

“An ex-student of mine and friend Helen who also works for H&K, suggested I got the wood I needed for the catio I am going to make for my cats to have fresh air. I went to the Streatham yard, the chaps there could not be more helpful, absolutely brilliant service. I needed a few extra bits and they made helpful suggestions as to what type of hinges and bolts I needed for an out side job. The wood was delivered by a very helpful and nice man on time and he unloaded it for me to. I can not praise the staff enough for there fantastic service and their professionalism. I use them again definitely.”

“Paid a visit to your Ashford Branch today (19/6/23) and couldn’t be happier, was dealt with by a chap called Kuldeep and after telling him I knew ZERO about wood he was so helpful from start to finish. A very pleasant experience from start to finish and wouldn’t hesitate to use you again, many thanks.”

“I am very grateful to a small group of individuals at Hitchcock & King timber merchants in Fulham,and I must say they have left a lasting impression on me.From the general manager,Paul,to Rupert and Bot in the sales office,and Mr Ali on the shop floor,each of them have been incredibly helpful throughout my experience. However,there are two individuals who deserve special recognition for there exceptional service and knowledge offered to me in person.These seasoned professionals possess a wealth of knowledge about timber products and have consistently treated me with the upmost respect. It is important for the management at Hitchcock & King to recognise that the company’s success is built upon the hard work and dedication of its team members.People like Paul,Rupert,Bot,and Mr Ali,and of course Richie,and Stuart who are the backbone of the organisation,contributing to its growth and reputation.I would also like to acknowledge the hard working guys in the yard who have helped me on occasion with my deliveries. It is clear to me that all the team at Hitchcock & king specifically Richie and Stuart are instrumental in the company’s success,and I do hope that there efforts are acknowledged and appreciated by management. “I called at the Hammersmith branch of H&K today to purchase a sheet of MDF to be cut. My order was completed immediately to the cutting schedule I required and received efficient and good humoured service throughout. Highly recommended!”

“I visited the streatham branch, twice this week, and found Mike Garrett really helpful, it really makes a great difference, when your looking for materials, and had no problem giving me the number of their wandsworth branch, when they did not have all that I wanted, a really helpful guy”

“I ordered C16 sawn treated 22x150mm boards from the Streatham branch to use for outdoor furniture. The boards looked weathered but I'd never purchased this type before so I thought I could clean them up. When I planed the surfaces, within 2 days, black, white and green mould was growing out of the board which means that mould spores are within the timber. When I contacted the branch, I was refused a refund or exchange because I hadn't treated the (brand new already treated C16) planks... The team wasn't rude but I think not fair as I was sold a bad quality product. I maybe should have expected this because when I visited the branch I wasn't given a chance to inspect the wood before the team had cut it and put it in my car... It was very a rushed and unpleasant experience. I've very disappointed and will not be using the company again and recommend other DIYers to shop for wood and products elsewhere. I have attached images of a planed and unplaned plank for reference.”

“I ordered beams and blocks flooring 7 weeks ago ( lead time 2 weeks), I have been told several times "you will get it tomorrow or this afternoon" by Ashford branch. Delay my project already for 4 weeks. I still did not receive it until today. I have to pay delay fee.”

“called into Ashford recently for bulk pea shingle and one or two other bits, for following day delivery,which arrived promptly by a very courteous and friendly driver. so far,so good. I am now trying to price further materials in order to continue the job, using your website......can't find any prices, can't find the bulk bags, can't click on cement poducts to find types or prices, all of which I found easily on Travis Perkins and Jewsons........bit frustrating to say the least !”
