“Handcrafted in Meadowfield, Durham, is a charity organisation helping vulnerable people. I approached a member of staff on 6 February 2018 in Brandon Community Hall and they promised to do a small job with my fence on paid basis. They said they would contact me in a few days. The job was not big and I was very happy as I could not find people to do it before I talked to Handcrafted despite being able to pay as necessary. Handcrafted is also located within 5 minutes driving from where I live. I sent many emails and made many phone calls but I had to wait almost 8 weeks for them to come to give an estimate. They said that job will only take a couple of hours. I am of older age, I live on my own on low income, I have mental and physical health problems and I have absolutely nobody to help me at all. I have been waiting for almost three months, all this time them promising to come. I had to cancel appointments and plans when I thought they could be coming. I contacted them many times and at the end they just stopped responding to me. Durham Council contacted me threatening with court action as a part of the fence panel was on communal territory. This caused me huge physical and mental distress and extreme frustration. I am a Christian myself and I do not understand how a Christian charity can treat people with so much disrespect and promising the job and then completely ignoring me. I feel that I am absolutely nobody in their eyes. I would like them to contact me about this situation.”
