“There were 2 issues - first issue is the alleged Black Friday 'Code' did not work against an eligible product - that was initially off putting and felt exploitative and dishonest. For a high-end brand, it's not the kind of business practice you would expect.
Second issue, the boots I bought (that were not Black Friday Deal and full price at £120.00) arrived with the base of the box clearly burst. I didn't immediately check the contents but a couple of days later when I went to wrap them on the evening before my daughter's birthday I pushed back the broken box base to see the boots had clearly fallen out in transit - one was a bit scuffed and both were dirty. I wiped them clean, dried them off, repaired the box and wrapped them since I had no alternative. I raised the issue. Got the automated response then nothing. A week later, I emailed again and it took me back to stage 1 of customer support. I gave up and came here instead. That's what they want - to wear you down so you just give up. Been wearing Hunter wellies since forever but the pair I have currently will be the last. Poor show for the price point of their products”
“I bought these wellies because I thought paying the extra would mean good quality that lasts. Not even a year on and they are cracked and leaking. Don't waste your money.”
“I purchased a pair of wellingtons for my partner in. They have been used purely for gardening and walking the dogs across the fields once in a while. I’d estimate they have been worn 30 times and stored indoors on a boot rack.
They’ve not been used for 6-12 months due to lockdown, etc. My partner went to put them on the other day and they have completely perished! We had noticed a film was coming away from them some time ago (within a few months of purchase, but presumed this was purely cosmetic).
I paid a lot of money for these boots thinking that with the ‘Hunter’ name they would last a long time - but they’ve fallen apart within a couple of years of light use. My own pair of cheap wellies are still going strong after 8 years and cost me £11!
I contacted ‘Hunter’ and they said that they are faulty, but they have said that they won’t help resolve the matter as the fault fell just outside of the warranty. It’s strange that the materials have a shelf life of just past the warranty period.
Instead, I was offered a discount if I buy a new pair! I can’t say I’d ever trust another pair of these and their aftercare is pretty much non-existent. I’m very disappointed by their lack of care and inferior products.
Don’t be fooled by the brand name - they’re cheaply made (probably in China) and not up to their job!!!
I’ll be sure to share the review everywhere possible - which is a shame, as it could have been easily avoided with good customer service.”
“Took far too long to receive a refund after them reviewing the goods back.
Plus the woman in customer services sounded totally uninterested when I chased it up!”
“My £125 wellies split and have perished within 8 months and Hunter were not interested. They have said it is down to environmental factors and therefore they are not responsible. Their customer service is appalling and I would strongly advise anyone i know to ever order from them again. I am disgusted.”
