“I placed an order for next day delivery, 3 days later I received part of the order. I phoned them to confirm where the rest of the order was and was told it would be with me the following day. The order still didnt arrive and was told it would then be with me the following Tuesday - 8 days after I placed the original order!”
“Placed my order online, need to add another socket to the order so rang the company not more than 5 minutes after placing the order to request to add the additional item. Abrupt call handler refused to add further item therefore I incurred an extra delivery charge for the second order. Not great customer service. Wouldn’t use this company again as there are more helpful suppliers out there.
Ordinarily I would not leave a review however they pestered via email for review so I submitted the above. They have just reject the review as it meet their criteria! So it seems they only publish positive feedback!!!”
“What absolute dross. Once again I ordered items on a pre 1030. Once again the items required were not delivered. Nor will they even come today at all. I have men on site waiting for the items, which has now cost me money an likewise I will no longer get paid from the job today as I cannot complete it.
Called ironmongery direct who blamed DPD. That's not my problem, my contract is with Ironmongery Direct! I am thousands of pounds down today and they won't even issue a refund until the items are returned to them even though I have not received most of the items in the first place. Avoid this company, they have serious reliability problems, and aren't bothered to help out when they're in the wrong.”
“The website has major technical issues, resulting in it being unable to use saved addresses or record house names for delivery addresses, so deliveries always arrive late. Despite knowing and admitting this and still advertising next day delivery on the website, Ironmongery Direct Customer Services has refused to refund delivery charges. If you need products quickly, don't risk it, just buy local.”
“Unreasonable returns policy- strict 28 days I was a few late mostly because I was waiting for other parts to compare it to then a few extra days because I was in hospital. They were I willing to accept the return a few days late which is feel is bad customer service and poor ethic. What is the difference to them if it is 28 days or 33?”
“Used to be so good, but right now absolutely unreliable, not fulfilling promises, making a lot of mistakes. And operators... they are like robots and don't even listen. Messed up our delivery, lost part of the package. Charged us for the replacement delivery, promised to refund back. Delayed replacement order for a week. Still unresolved. We as a building company lost a crucial completion date. Last time we used them..”

“This website appears to be a scam. They don't ship you the actual items pictured on their website, they ship something vaguely similar but with a different style and finish. It just looks kinda similar. It's very frustrating because they don't respond to emails when you write to ask if they can ship the correct item.”
“SHOCKING! ordered 20 fence spikes with post toppers in early june,the tops arrived next day but was told due to covid the spikes wouldnt be delivered until early july,i said thats fine. Early july arrives and i was told by phone there was i mistake in the wharehouse and they would now be delivered early august (not happy but agreed) 2 days later 3 spikes arrive? Early August comes around and i get an email my spikes are on the way, i check the order and its for 1 single spike? called them up and cancelled the remaining 16 spikes, bought them elsewhere,they took 2 days to arrive. Use this outfit at your own risk,they wasted 3 months of my life and i wont be buying a brass tac from this lot ever again.”
“Normally they are a good company to deal with, with prompted deliveries. Unfortunately i have gathered that they have now changed delivery services and is shockingly bad. I placed an order a week ago for an express delivery supposedly getting delivered 5 days ago and still waiting. I have spoken to them on the phone and they have said they’ll let me know when they have spoken to the courier but repeatedly get no answer. If you’re after a fast express delivery, I would pay more and go somewhere else.”

“I’ve had a couple of items from this firm that have been substandard. One was returned and they refunded me. The latest was a galvanised 300mm cabin hook which, although fitting the description, was very shoddily made, I am always disappointed when screws supplied with a product have a “Phillips” style head and not “Posidrive” as this screams cheap Chinese screws at me. The screws supplied with this product either burred in the head when driving in or, worse, snapped on the shank when attempting to remove them The galvanising on the hook part was very rough and shoddy. Not up to British Made “Eliza Tinsley” style although the price was definitely “Eliza Tinsley”. On the plus side, their delivery, returns and customer help are very good. Personally I’d prefer to receive quality goods! Two unhappy experiences with this company so will not be using them again.”

“I purchased the Taylor letter box. The design of this box is flawed to the point if fix as per the instructions you are unable to open the lid. I have had to fix a packer piece to the wall behind the box to allow the lid to open without binding against the wall.
The top of he box which allows the lid to be joined is very weak and of very poor quality. I appreciate you pay for what you get however this is not worth the money DO NOT PURCHASE.”
