“Today marked what will unfortunately be our last visit to My Dhabba. This is not because of the food the food itself is really good and has always been above average but because of the unprofessional behaviour we experienced from one male staff member who appeared to be a supervisor or senior member of the team he was not in uniform and was dressed casually which is unusual for the restaurant.
We have been regular customers for four years ever since we moved to Coventry and My Dhabba was one of the first restaurants we tried.
We ordered a few grills and papadums as starters. After waiting nearly ten minutes I had to call the staff member over and politely reminded him that papadums are normally served before the main dishes arrive. His response was that we should have asked for them to be brought earlier. As the servers we would expect the staff to know the standard order of service without needing to be prompted.
When the main food arrived the same staff member told us the naan would take another two to three minutes. I reacted with mild surprise as in an Indian restaurant one would normally expect the naan to arrive with the rest of the meal. This was simply a natural reaction on our part and we accepted the short delay. However he returned shortly afterwards and asked me why I had thrown a tantrum. I found this comment unnecessary and inappropriate especially as no apology was offered for the delayed service. I calmly pointed out that we were not only there for the food but for the overall dining experience and that questioning a customers reaction in that manner was not acceptable.
His response left a very negative impression and spoiled what should have been an enjoyable family meal with my wife and children.
The female staff members present were by contrast generous and professional. One of them stepped in and removed the male staff member from the situation when it looked as though the conversation might escalate in front of our family and other customers.
A note to the owners when customers choose to dine in rather than take away they are paying for the full restaurant experience. Extra charges are accepted because we expect attentive and courteous service. If service falls short in this way it undermines the reason for dining in.
Although the food remains good no one from the management came to apologise for the incident that ruined our evening. For that reason we will not be returning.
Other customers looking for a complete dining experience in Coventry may wish to consider the many alternative Indian restaurants available in the area. Our experience with the service on this occasion was disappointing.”
“I sincerely appreciate Mrs. Zamora Lisette for her dependable support. She resolved my withdrawal issue promptly and ensured the entire process was smooth and stress-free.”
“Great food and a lovely experience at My Dhabba. Special thanks to Sonu for his friendly, attentive, and excellent service. He made us feel very comfortable. Will definitely visit again!”
“very disappointed tonight with my dhabba , my partner and I regularly eat here & enjoy the food but unfortunately tonight this was not the case. We ordered a butter paneer masala (veggie option) and I double checked with the lady on the phone it was butter paneer, when we got home we found out it was actually butter chicken masala (I’m vegetarian) so was very unhappy about this despite double checking with them before ordering . When I called back up to discuss this with them they put me on hold to go to speak to the kitchen staff to confirm it was chicken- which it was, to then tell me to bring the food back & they would replace the curry - no apology .
I then rang up again to ask for the whole meal to be replaced as by the time we would’ve collected the new curry the rice would be cold. When I arrived to collect the correct order , there was no apology what so ever, the woman then asked me “was it chicken? Can I see” and proceeded to check the dish, as if I was lying about it? Which is very rude . After realising it was chicken she then said “oh yeah, sorry” the most insincere apology . The meal was replaced luckily and I left . They messed up the naan with the second order, wasn’t the end of the world compared to being given meat dish as a vegetarian. But overall not happy with the situation and service tonight.”
