“There once was a 'Mercedes of Basingstoke',
Who's aftercare service is quite the joke,
For buying a used car hasn't been smooth,
The word I dispute is the one saying 'Approved'.
A **MESSAGE OF WARNING** to customer folk,
If buying a used car make sure it's not broke,
Don't trust Mercedes, you should be cautious,
Take AA inspector to check it for us.
For if you drive off and something is wrong,
Even blinking obvious, they'll say it wasn't them,
Extra insurances you buy with the car,
Become invalid if the vehicle's under par.
Only 2 years old I thought it'd be ok,
'Used and Approved' is just a cliche,
Mercedes walked away when they should have put it right,
Be warned fellow customers, their absolute utter............Rubbish”
“Off to Trading Standards MBUK and Legal Advice
I’ve had my E300 estate for just over 3 months now and I have spent so much time either waiting in the showroom for my car to be sorted out or taking days out for the car to be collected for repair.
The promise of great service and new management lured me back to Sandown Group (Guildford) as I had received very poor service from Marshall Group (Portsmouth and Southampton, local to me). So I now travel (my choice) 47 miles for service etc.
I wouldn’t mind but the story so far has not been a good one, recently waiting over 6 hours to be rescued having broken down, (MB never did turn up)!
I had to wait for a new rear compartment cover ( what I received was second hand and marked) when I eventually clipped it in place it didn’t work, so back up to Guildford, where they took an hour to review the problem, booking me in to put right the issue.
So, I was told 2 hours and decided to wait, after 3:40 hours they came and told me that it couldn’t be done today as it needed a new motor, but we will deactivate it…..then they couldn’t do that because it was tied into the suspension. So now it’s just broken.
I’ve been asked if I would like them to buy the car back off me, but their offer leaves me at a severe financial loss! There’s a surprise. I was asked what I do for a living? Though why I’m not sure but I told them I’ve been over 40 years self employed and live in recommendations and personal referrals so my standards are very high, yes mistakes are made but always put right at my cost and satisfying my customer base, I’m not cheap, but my service and quality has kept me in work, seriously they don’t get that, they look at you l I’m e your an alien!! I think they look at me like I’m the worst customer and try to come up with new ways to disappoint.
If I ran my business the same way I would go bust so, in conclusion I am off to seek legal advice, Trading standards and MBUK as I believe that this should be investigated further.”
“Vehicle sold with one key, but promised new key asap, key arrived so I drove to the dealership, 2 hours later they said couldn’t do because they needed the V5!
1: you sold me the vehicle!
2: why does it take 2 hours!!
Drove up the following Sat morning, kept over an hour, they said Germany had an internet problem, Absolute Shambles.
The worst thing for me was, I had returned to Sandown based on the salesman’s promises of Professional guidance, Service and trust (I had a bad experience with Mercedes on the coast, so these are big issues for me) turns out the Salesman is a smiling assassin who, when questioned by his bosses, lied to them as well.
He advised me to scale down my annual mileage as I was paying Mercedes too much money, it won’t affect you as long as you don’t walk away from the car.
Suckered!! I thought I was taking his professional advice but now have to alter my contract at a heavier cost or get clobbered at the end! My fault for trusting him, beware the Smiling Assasin at Sandown Mercedes.”
