“My experience with Serious Strike has been extremely disappointing, and a waste of time and money. My communications with them were through Wan Chang. I filed two Chinese trademark applications with them, one trademark in two different classes per their recommendation.
When my trademark applications were rejected, Wan notified me one month past the deadline allowed to respond to the rejection. He urged me to file new applications by tweaking the trademark name. I had no interest in filing a new trademark. I believe he and his firm did not want to admit they were late to notify me of the rejection, which prevented me the opportunity to file a response. By urging me to file new applications, they can cover up their incompetence.
Communication from them has been dishonest and deliberately evasive. For example, Wan did not provide me the documentation of the rejection until I asked for it (similar happened with me having to ask for copies of the filed trademark applications). Wan initially told me the rejection was for one reason, but the official documentation revealed a different reason. This was one of many instances of me receiving incorrect information from them.
The rejection document revealed the 15 day time limit to respond. When I questioned Wan on notifying me of the rejection past the response deadline, he claimed the firm could extend the case and still file a response. However, that was not true. At the time, the applications were already expired. I spoke with two separate Chinese law firms and they confirmed there was no way to file a response or request an extension to the trademark office beyond the 15 day time limit.
Overall, I am warning others to be very careful of using Serious Strike. If there is any chance any trademarks you file with the Chinese trademark office can be rejected, do not use Serious Strike's services. Please look elsewhere. They will not notify you in a timely fashion of your opportunity to file a response. Instead, they urge you to spend more money to file new applications. They will claim they are saving you money doing it this way, because filing responses are expensive. However, I believe they are either not interested or do not have the ability to properly file responses. In a short consultation I had with another firm, they felt cautiously optimistic that I could have overcame my rejection and briefly discussed strategy in doing so. I never received that kind of clear, direct and honest communication from Serious Strike.
I believe it is only their interest to make money through quickly filing applications that may or may not be approved. I do not think they are interested in getting the trademarks you really need properly registered. Again, please be aware of using their services. I wasted a lot of time and money with them, and do not wish for others to risk going through the same thing.”
