I bought a car for £8,000 from a salesman named Martin. It had 52,000 miles and came with a 6‑month RAC warranty that turned out to be completely useless. Most garages refuse to deal with that warranty provider, and now I understand exactly why.
After just 3,000 miles, the gearbox failed and the PM sensor for the DPF system also failed. The official dealer quoted £2,500–£3,000 to replace the automatic gearbox clutch. When I contacted Silver Garage, they refused to repair anything and told me to go through the RAC warranty instead. The official dealer then refused to carry out the work under that warranty because it simply wasn’t worth the hassle.
Only after I posted a review did Silver Cars call me back, asking me to remove it and bring the car in. I dropped the car off, and after a full week they had done absolutely nothing. They eventually admitted the car already had gearbox issues before they sold it to me and that it would be sent back to the same person who had done the dodgy work the first time.
More than two weeks passed with no updates, and the warranty had only one week left. When I asked for a refund, they refused and hung up the phone. At this point, I have no confidence that any repair—if they even attempt one—will be anything more than another quick, dodgy fix that lasts 2,000–3,000 miles. I seriously doubt the clutch will actually be replaced.
This company knowingly sold a faulty car, avoided responsibility, wasted my time, and treated me with complete disrespect. Stay far away from them.”

“I purchased a £6,250 vehicle from Silver's Cars of Pontefract. After 10 days it broke down. I took it to my local dealer who advise me to return the car and get a refund but in accordance with Consumer Rights Act l reported the issues and they collected the vehicle and then l had to collect it at my own expense. It was a 130 mile round trip. Three days late l experienced exactly the same issues and again took it to my local deal who carried out some computer updates. Still having issues so l wrote to them rejecting the vehicle under the Consumer Rights Act. They have refused to give me a refund and l have returned the vehicle. I am issuing a Small Claim in the morning at a further cost of £455.
