I recently placed an order through your online store (sold by Sportscene) for a pair of Puma Speedcat OG sneakers. I purchased them on Cyber Monday as a birthday gift for my daughter. Unfortunately, when the sneakers arrived, we discovered that the white Puma accents on the shoes did not match—one was suede and the other was leather. This was very disappointing, especially because she had planned to wear them for her birthday weekend.
Your website states that faulty items can be exchanged at any store, so we visited the Sportscene branch at Cape Gate. The manager confirmed that they didn’t have her size in stock but could order it. However, when he tried to process the exchange, we were told the Cyber Monday sale price no longer applied and that I would need to pay an extra R799 to receive the replacement pair.
The only alternative offered was to drive to the Parow branch, as they were the distributing store. After travelling to Cape Gate at our own cost, being told we could not exchange a faulty item due to a pricing issue caused by no fault of ours was extremely frustrating. I ended up requesting a refund because I was not prepared to spend more money and fuel driving to another store with no guarantee the issue would be resolved.
My concerns are:
• Are items not checked for quality before they are packed and shipped?
• Why can a sale price not be honoured when the product delivered was faulty?
• Why was the manager at the store unable to assist with an exchange at the sale price, considering the error was on your side?
This entire experience left my daughter very disappointed on her birthday weekend, and I am deeply dissatisfied with how the situation was handled. I am now left with a refund but unable to repurchase the same shoes at the price I originally paid.”
