“Sincere & Personal. The two guys that founded & run this business are both family men that treat their staff with all the respect you would hope for. I've seen 1st hand how this business is run and it seems like a happy ship.
Regards the work they all put in to the firewood you buy, when stocking up for the winter is concerned, I've never come across anyone else in the business of selling wood that does as much as this company to make sure every possible gap in every crate or pallet is filled with wood as these guys do. The time spent stacking all the wood by hand is testament to the values and pride they have in their company and products. Needless to say, it's all kiln dried, with low moisture content, so will burn hot & well in any fire.
Come autumn, you'll see all the adverts and find a lot of cowboys and even established companies selling firewood by the grab-bag or pick-up full etc. All of which I guarantee is just chucked or tipped in, heaped like jenga and handed to you with a lot of fresh air. Your woodpile at home is likely stacked neatly under a lean-to or something like that, and that's how these boys give it to you; as solid and full as possible. They also do their upmost to get it as close to curbside or destination as possible, making your job as easy as they can. All being said, simply value for money.
When it comes to their premium timber offerings, well they generally cater for most if not all raw timber requirements. Whether it be rough sawn & waney or straight cut planks, they know their stuff, so when it comes to proper grading and providing knot free grade A timber, you just found your supply. I know they regularly deal with several bespoke carpenters and their raw material needs, and I've also seen some of the exquisite projects their wood has helped produce.
Sourced responsibly and seasonally from various European forests, they have family relationships with the timber mills they work with and ethics play a big part in their operating ethos & principles. Everyone's all too aware what a precious commodity slow grown hard woods are, and they demand respect and traceability in throughout the supply chain.
I've had the privilege of working with these guys and I know they've earned the respect of their crew and have a proven business model that's come through both the financial crisis and pandemic; so they must be doing something right.
The old adage says you get what you pay for. I know these guys aren't the cheapest, but when you get more for your money, surely that's the same thing....?”
