Great until it goes wrong. We purchased a used Ford Ranger from Vospers on behalf of our business with an extended three year Ford warranty that itself cost £1200. We drove the vehicle home and the engine management light came on during the trip. Initially we weren't hugely concerned by this, we understand things can happen, we are reasonable people. We rang the Plymouth branch first thing the next morning. I spoke to a receptionist who advised that only a "master technician" could see the vehicle, and that the soonest they would be able to look at it would be in almost two months. The receptionist could not see any issue with this and yet refused to give me her name in order that we could complain to a manager. We then rang the Exeter branch who advised that the soonest they could see the vehicle would be in around six weeks time, and that should the vehicle be driven before it had been looked at it would void the warranty. I then requested to speak to a manager who hung up on me several times and was disinterested in helping. The only way I was able to make any progress was to tell them that I would bring the vehicle back for a full refund and stand in their car park and advise other customers of how they will be treated once they have paid for the vehicle. At this point, surprisingly, they arranged for me to speak to a mechanic. The mechanic himself was very helpful and managed to book the vehicle in to be seen 2 days later, which we found much more reasonable. We drove the vehicle over 60 miles back to Vospers in Exeter where another mechanic told my partner that the vehicle had a gearbox fault. They did provide a courtesy van, however as we had purchased the Ranger for its towing ability and 5 seats it was neither use nor ornament. We later received a phone call advising that the vehicle had a turbo fault and that it would take 3 weeks minimum to fix this. Having looked at schedule of works and spoken to mechanics we know, this is a job allocated as being 6 hours in duration. Had we waited for this to be resolved we would have given up our 2 week right to return period, and so we advised Vospers that we would be returning the vehicle. The salesmen we dealt with (Stuart and Raff) were very helpful and offered us another vehicle which was the same price, however lacked some of the features that we wanted that were on the first vehicle. We did accept this swap as we were in need of a towing vehicle for our company. We were assured that Vospers would liaise with our finance brokers to organise this. We were then left waiting for over a week whilst Vospers and our finance brokers blamed each other for delays in getting the vehicle. However, fortunately it appears that we were accidentally sent a copy of the full email trail showing that Vospers accounts department were the delay, and had had not bothered to send over the correct paperwork despite several prompts from our brokers and Vospers own sales team, and multiple messages from us chasing up the status of the vehicle. Strangely enough Vospers accounts did mange to send the invoice for payment to the finance broker within a matter of minutes, but seemed incapable of changing this paperwork to the replacement vehicle, or indeed answering emails from their own sales team. As a result of a final chase up email going unanswered for two days we have notified Vospers that we have cancelled the purchase. Again, as seems to be the Vospers mode of operation, we instantly received an email telling us the vehicle was now ready. Our confidence with Vospers, and importantly our trust in their integrity and customer service is irrevocably broken and we cannot trust them with our business. I would strongly urge anyone to avoid using this company, there are clearly issues at a management level. Despite staff failures, staff refusal to provide names and hanging up on customers, there has been absolutely no effort made to hold these staff to account by management. We are now out of pocket for thousands of pounds, having had to pay out quite considerable costs to our business, having equipment delivered that we otherwise would have towed, insurance, and fees that we will now be charged for leaving a finance agreement as Vospers have managed to string us along past the two week cooling off period, perhaps another sales method?

A great experience with Vospers Plymouth and particularly Tony, from start to finish. Absolutely no sales speal, nothing but honest accurate advice. There was no sign on the dotted line pr pushy tactics typical of this industry, Tony is a true credit to the company. Quick process from online request to first viewing, vehicle was prepared and ready quickly and to a high standard, Tony even stayed on late so we could collect that day due to us running late with work which was nice, most others would be closing the door at 5pm! We will definitely be returning to Tony at Vospers for another vehicle in the future.

We purchased a pre - used Fiat 500 from sales executive Jason Stannaway, who was very helpful, we were told that the car was in excellent condition , which it is, thankfully ,we had the car delivered by transporter from ST Austell Cornwall , to West Wales, we were told that the car had three quarters tank of fuel, NOT THE CASE , IT was only quarter full, drove the car and the steering felt heavy, checked tyre pressures front and back 20 psi should have been 32psi, Lucky we had delivered as the tyres could have overheated, and caused a blow out, it’s little things that matter , that let the whole purchase down ,

Plymouth body shop omg! Replacement bonnet and wings under warranty on black mustang. Broke clips stripping car. Replacement clips fitted. Told car ready to collect, drove hour and half to pick up, worst orange peel paint I’ve ever seen, reject car. Vospers”we’ll give it another go! Two days later go back as told car is ready. Still lots of orange peel but added extra dent in bonnet from over machining! Swirl marks in new paint. Vospers” we can have another go! Me not a chance, make it very clear I’m unhappy and wright this all over the paperwork. I take the car to a proper body shop who quote to put it right. Talk to ford uk about the bill, they phone vospers who blatantly lie and tell them I was happy with the car and took it away!!! Now I’m left with a black car that looks bloody awful with peel, dents, runs and some bent trim. Very bloody angry!!!

Purchased my New car from them March last, all good but then....last week for the first time I telephoned service dept "Amanda" to ask a technician a question about bulb changing, she said, " They are all too busy and Customers usually BOOK In to change a bulb as its a tricky job...WHAT ! So I asked could I have a one minute call back please as its a simple question....." They are very busy so I don't know when" she said. Needless to say..No call back, however....I contacted elsewhere and got an immediate helpful reply, so, NO future business with Vospers from me and as for servicing under warranty...Elsewhere using Manufactures parts ! Sad really as your Sales department Salesman was GREAT !

Alarm on my instrument panel said there was an engine malfunction. Took it to Vospers St Austell who did a diagnostic test (£57) and said I needed a new instrument cluster. The part alone was £901, and to have it fitted would cost me £1090. This was for a ten year old escort. They offered me 980 trade in. These options were unaffordable. I investigated online and bought a tiny Allen key/screwdriver, removed the instrument panel, sent it off to be repaired and its now working with a lifetime guarantee. All for less than 180 quid. I love my Escort, but I will never ever do business with Vospers

First receptionist put me through to bodyshop repairs, where eventually this was answered by a young lady, she was obviously busy doing something else at the time as the call kept going out of range, she then tried putting me back to front desk but I was quicker hanging up and redialling. Second receptionist (mature lady) cut me off mid sentence and put me through to another department in which I held for 4 minutes, unhelpful and rude staff at their front of desk/reception, where were Vospers customer service? Leaves a lot to be desired. However, on that note, I have gone elsewhere. In the 20 years I have lived here both my husband and I have purchased 5 cars, never again. This company need to get their staff training schedule in order. The last car I purchased was supposed to come with a full tank of petrol, promises made by the gent who sold the car back in April, however, I had to fill up at the nearest garage, I never bothered too much about this broken promise at the time, but after having witnessed first hand their customer service, I think its time to move on. Goodbye Vospers, take a leaf out of my page and get your staff trained on customer service. There are some fantastic companies out there that will come in and do this for you. Oh and you might want to identify the riff raff and send them packing.

Bit of a shoddy service from Vospers service department. My wife bought a pair of wiper blades for her Abarth on 18 May and less than 3 months later the blade of the main one came apart, totally disintergrating leaving a metal arm scraping across the screen in the pouring rain at 70mph. We made it to a nearby Halfords and replaced with one of theirs. A call to the Vospers service department today, with receipt in hand, and asking if we can have a refund on our £38.18 just 2 months earlier was met by the jobsworth at the other end with 'no, it's a consumable part'. That's a poor response quite frankly. The item is clearly defective and I offered to send it back so they could see for themselves. So, we'll take the Abarth to a proper dealership who respects their customers come service time. We'll also call upon our consumer rights with the credit card company which paid for the item. What happened to goodwill in business and doing the right thing? Bad show.
