“I had an alternator I could not identify and I had damaged the casing in a bodged repair - my ignorance. I sent photos to David at West Lancs along with the damaged alternator and they very quickly provided a new alternator to fit my existing very non-standard installation. They were extremely positive and helpful. Return delivery was fast and overall I was exyremely happy with the price and service provided.”

My order on Tuesday, delivered Wednesday was an incorrect model. A replacement was delivered on Friday without fuss with a prepaid return label.”
“Excellent service - quick and accurate quotation and then fast delivery when I placed the order. Particularly liked the way Dave listened to the detailed spec of the existing alternator to make sure that he had identified the correct variant for my car.”
“Ordered alternator over phone, received next day with email and text informing me of delivery time within one hour and name of delivery driver. “After searching around for various alternator prices, I contacted West Lancs auto electrics and stated that I wanted a Lucas XXXX model alternator.
I was told instantly that they had it in stock and it could be delivered the next day.
I had previously been shopping around and found some of the cheaper Chinese aftermarket alternators at around ÂŁ110, so when I was quoted ÂŁ142 I thought that it was worth paying the extra to get the Lucas model.
The part didn’t turn up the next day as promised, but this was the fault of DPD, not West Lancs auto electrics, and the alternator arrived today on Monday, the 11th of September instead of Friday.
When my mechanic opened ip the box he called me and informed me that it was an aftermarket alternative to the Lucas model, which I wasn’t happy about because that’s what I had asked for and that’s what i’d been quoted for.
When I contacted West Lancs to query why they haven’t sent me the Lucas, they simply said that was the one they use instead of Lucas.
That is not what I asked for and that was never explain to me so I was a bit upset because I’ve now spent more money than I needed to as alternative models were available on the Internet for around £110 so you can see my frustration.
They were completely uninterested in Accepting responsibility and said it was a lack of communication.
I explained there was nothing miscommunicated when I clearly stated I was looking for a Lucas XXXX alternator and by default, their response should always be that they provide aftermarket alternatives which they did not.
They said if I wasn’t happy, I could send it back , but the money saved by now going back to another supplier to say £30 quid will be surpassed by the fact that I’ve now not got my car for work for the next two days so will lose income so it is a completely untenable resolution.
Extremely disappointed that they made no attempt to clearly Inform me that they only used aftermarket parts and claim that there was simply a misunderstanding is ridiculous… i made it clear what i wanted and they didnt even pretend to talk about aftermarket models..
As part of the ordering process, they also wrote down my card details because when I asked for the authorisation code (approximately 10 minutes after I’d phoned originally, I’d phoned back to ask for it) they said oh sorry, so we haven’t got that yet because we haven’t processed the payment.. so i said “oh so you’ve written the details down” and he said yes. He said that they all get processed later…
if you order from these guys be very very careful as unless they have very good PCI COMPLIANCT PROCESSES theres a big risk in data breaches when card details are written down, and potentially stored….”
