I had a very disappointing experience ordering from Wested Leather Co as a US customer. The product arrived damaged — the hat was smashed and the ribbon was hanging off — and the quality was far below expectations for the price. The bigger issue, however, was customer service. After the order shipped, I received multiple emails from Wested using threatening and escalatory language regarding a ~$33 customs/tariff charge. The emails claimed that DHL would pursue legal action and that the shipment could be destroyed if payment was not made. This language did not align with either DHL’s actual policies or Wested Leather Co’s own published shipping terms. Wested’s website states: “Once your order has been dispatched, the contract is considered fulfilled by Wested Leather Co Ltd.” Despite this, I continued to receive repeated, unnecessary emails from multiple addresses that felt intimidating and stressful. To clarify the situation, I contacted DHL directly. DHL was professional and confirmed that they would not pursue legal action against a customer over a small customs fee. This confirmed that the claims made in Wested’s emails were misleading and inappropriate. I ultimately received the product, but based on the product condition and the way this situation was handled, I would not recommend Wested Leather Co — especially for US or international customers. This was a routine shipping matter that was escalated unnecessarily and handled poorly.
