“My go to store for anything miniature related or manga.
I had used years back to purchase box sets of one piece and dragonball as they were the cheapest I could find. Arrived well packaged and in perfect nick, so no complaints.
I then returned to the store years later after starting a Warhammer 40k binge and purchased multiple paints/models and accessories for very reasonable prices. I had encountered a slight difficulty in getting a “mystery paint” code to work, which was a tiny issue I wasn’t particularly bothered with but sent a small email to let them know one of the codes hasn’t worked for me.
Within 5minutes the store manager had phoned me, tried to root out the problem, I assume fixed (if it wasn’t me getting it wrong - always a possibility!) the issue and then in my order sent some free paints for my time. Order as always arrives swiftly and perfect.
All to say I really like this store, price wise they’re a given but the care and service goes that bit above. I can never be bothered to review something unless I’m very annoyed or found them to be exceptional, I felt compelled to review them for the latter.
Thanks again folks
Jim”
“I have only had experience of Travelling Man online, and it has been brilliant. If you want your boardgames to arrive in immaculate condition and support an independent retailer, you won't do much better than Travelling Man.”
“Horribly mixed bag, should be a great, most of the staff are friendly, but there are a couple of very aggressive and patronising staff members who ruin what should be a fun shop. Staff who scowl if the their chats are interrupted by customers, and who literally 'tut' at being asked for a standing order bring out. The standing order service is very unreliable, unfortunately, it seems to be run by the absolute worst of the bunch. There doesn't seem to be any internal communication, with reorders simply not happening despite repeated promises.
The layout of the shop is also very poorly planned out, with elements that should be side by side on opposite sides of the store, possibly fuelling the staff's frustration. The shelves are a disorganised mess, making it difficult to find what you're looking for, add in the staff who really don't want to help and most shopping trips end empty handed. Thankfully, with the amount of quality gaming and comic shops currently in Leeds city centre, this dingy little pit probably won't last much longer.”
“Traveling man are an independant graphic novel and board game store. They are a located in a few cities in the North of England and have a very wide range of products. I use them all the time for my comics and enjoy supporting a local store that is not one of the major graphc novel providers.”
