About grow urban:

We are a friendly plant shop and garden store with two shops in Edinburgh and a delivery area that reaches most homes in the UK.

Our business was formed in April 2019 and our team of Plant Gurus are here to help offer advice and friendly customer service to Plant Lovers far and wide. We specialise in indoor plants but also offer a selection of outdoor plants and tools for the urban gardener.

If you're lucky enough to live close to one of our shops or will be visiting Edinburgh, you can also sit amongst the plants enjoying coffee and cake - yep, there's cafes in both of our shops! Hi Amy, thank you for taking the time to write a review for us! We are so pleased to hear you were impressed with the variety of plants and info we offer! Most of our plants do come with care tags, however these tags are too big for plants under 10cm in pot size like the one in your order. For this reason, we like to make sure all info needed is available on our website. Your Delosperma should be placed in bright, indirect light and watered when the compost has dried out completely. These plants dislike their leaves getting wet so we recommend watering from below rather than pouring water in from the top. Hope this helps - enjoy your new plant!

“Plants arrived safe and sound, even though there was a sudden cold snap! The Tephrocactus articulatus I ordered didn’t arrive intact but this is a common issue with the genus, so this is understandable!”

“I purchased a plant and pot online as a gift for a friend. My friend was delighted with the beautiful plant. However she advised that the plant didn’t fit the pot that has been sent. A bit embarrassing as it was meant to be a complete gift and my friend is housebound following an op!”

Hi Lesley, Thanks so much for your recent order with us and so sorry the pot you ordered didn't fit the plant. The plant you ordered 'Calathea White Fusion' is in a 14cm plastic pot so we write in the product description that we recommend ordering 16cm decorative pot for this plant. We also include our recommended 16cm pots to order with it on the same product page, but I notice that you ordered a 14cm pot which would be too small unfortunately. I'm afraid we cannot check each individual item for fit and we do try and make it as clear as possible on the product page which pot to order but we will look more closely into this and see if we can make it clearer in future but we really do appreciate you ordering with us and I hope your friend enjoys the plant nonetheless. “A good range of products and one of the few places with Niwaki CreanMate in stock. Order was dispatched quickly but sadly DPD took ages to deliver (not the shops fault). Very well packed in recyclable materials which was a bonus. Would happily order from them again.”

“Excellent service. Very speedy. Secateurs arrived the next day. But why use a big cardboard box when a Jiffy bag would have been fine.”

We have used jiffy in the past for secateurs but as they can be quite heavy the handles can easily pierce through so we have found much better arrival in a box however, we really do appreciate the feedback and will consider more concise packaging for these items in the future. “Love the quick delivery, reasonable prices, and gorgeous house plants purchased. The plants and pots were dirty and had moss from being in the shop. Would recommend they are dusted before delivery to the customer. Overall, highly recommend grow urban and supporting this local business grow (get it!😁).”

We endeavor to clean all pots that go out for delivery, but will certainly be more meticulous going forward. Please note that the 'Cyclamen in Aged Patio Terracotta' in your order comes with a terracotta pot that is designed by the supplier to look weathered with moss on the outside. We appreciate that this is not to everyones taste. Thank you so much for choosing to support a small business and for recommending us to others!

“Fast, efficient! Happy with the product. Only down side was the fertiliser was leaking a little bit and the box size was rather large for the size of the item- packaging waste was more than necessary.”
