“Terrible customer service. When ordering a domain and hosting at no point during checkout did it inform me that I needed a passport to confirm my identity for the domain and to add insult to injury the domain register was communicating in different language. I contacted support who said it was my tough luck and I needed to provide ID. Given that they advertise as privacy friendly it didn’t sit well with me, never have other webhosts or domain reg website demanded ID before.
The domain remained offline, unusable.
The company in the past claimed to be from Iceland but now Orangewebsite Hong Kong limited appear on the billing so i suspect its changed management and it’s now poorer support.
They said they had a no refund policy, so I contacted payment support and got a full refund as I wasn’t supplied the domain that I paid for.
Looking through the domains they host there are some legally questionable websites that they host so having seen this and their responses to support or lack there of, I’m never using orangewebsite ever again. If you care about privacy I don’t think a Hong Kong company with lack of support is the way to go especially if they demand ID. I wanted to the domain to host personal email as I was fed up with adverts and ad trackers in my email. I’ll be looking elsewhere”
