“Perception Lighting initially sent me the incorrect parts although the parts I ordered had been correctly described on the invoice. It took two attemtpts to get it right, but they did so promptly and courteously.
The accessory light fitting kit I received comprised a 40a relay mounted in a socket, a 40a inline fuse, twin Deutsch-style double-pin connectors, and separate leads for the on-off pushbutton switch and highbeam signal preassembled in a harness. It also contained an appropriately-labelled pushbutton switch with leads, and a highbeam signal adapter. Notably, the feed for the highbeam signal is taken from the Body Control Module (BCM) located within the cabin, rather than directly from the headlamp unit itself as used in previous designs. Perception Lighting claim that this approach potentially avoids 'internal damage to the headlight assembly. This is due to the sensitivity of the electronics integrated within the headlight, including components like the DRL circuits, CANBUS systems, and signal processors.' This appears to be best practice as the OEM accessory light installations also take their highbeam signal from the BCM. The goods were described as a 'plug and play'. It was close, but not quite. The relay mounting point and cable routing I chose was the same as that of the OEM accessory light installation, and went from the battery, across the front of the radiator, along the right-hand side of the engine bay, and above the right-hand wheelhouse liner to the A-pillar where the leads went through an existing grommet to the driver's side kickpanel which also provided access to the dashboard. This meant extension of the highbeam signal wires and pushbutton switch wires by about a metre. The positive battery lead also had to be extended by about 30cm given the relay mounting position I used. Other than that, this kit fitted and works well.”
