“Did not deliver on promised help and books. And now as of 3/7/24 it seems like they are out of business, the phone numbers I had been using no longer are in service.”

“The good news - we did get our book published in Kindle and Amazon paperback forms. The bad news - we worked with at least 5 different people "in charge" of getting our book done; we paid for editing, formatting, proofreading, uploaded to 5 different ebook sites, copyright, printing on Amazon, etc. To date we have received minimal editing (a friend did the majority of this), minimal proofreading (I ended up doing most of this), ISBN numbers for all 3 versions but they are listed as Authors Club instead of the author as publisher which is not what was agreed upon, our book uploaded to Amazon ebook and paperback (I had to finish hardcover myself). As of Monday, 3/4/24 it looks like they are out of business because the 4 phone numbers I have are all disconnected. Now I am trying to get done what they have not - uploading to other ebook sites that were in our agreement, copyright paperwork filed, etc. Lastly, I had to constantly stay on them to get anything done and I had to constantly put up with pitches for more money ranging from requests for $1500 to well over $7000. They are not reputable or honest and will tell you most anything to get more money. Fortunately, we resisted the money pressure and did ultimately end up with a quality book and very nice cover largely due to our own efforts and help from others outside of Prime Authors.”

“While I did get my book published after many, many months. It cost me an arm and a leg. As well, they never fulfilled all they promised they would do. They kept asking for more money. They say if not 100% satisfied, they will give a refund. Well, that didn't happen. In the end, I wished I had gone with another publisher, it would have cost me half of what I ended up paying. I was most disappointed. They made many promises but short on making good on their promises.”

“I would tell anyone to stay away from Prime Authors. I paid out thousands of dollars and still did not get my book published. They kept telling me that my book was in the process of being published but they wanted more money. I could not afford anymore and then they did not publish my book. I feel so sad and taken advantage of. I never got my money back. I paid money and never got the finished product of my book.”

“Do not do business with Prime Authors! Searching the internet for a memoir publisher. I inadvertently contacted Prime Authors, Inc., believing it was Amazon’s Book Baby site. I spoke to Kevin Brown who, when asked if they were the Amazon company, said they market through Amazon. That’s technically true but didn’t answer my question. I got the “expiring discount” spiel and made a down payment of a “refundable” amount of $500 to hold the discounted rate. I later learned that I would not get physical books but they would provide editing, proofing, indexing and marketing of an e-book. This was not what I wanted, so I asked to drop out of their program. I got a sales pitch and finally we agreed to draft a binding contract to supply me with books and at a price competitive with Book Baby’s print-ready rate. Kevin actually produced a draft contract with all my requirements except it was attached to an email that stated I would owe $6490. In various conversations with Kevin (I was never assigned to an editing team) I have gotten estimates of cost ranging from $2,940 to 6,490. I got a huge run-around when I indicated that the contract, if negotiated, would only require me to pay a total of $1,000. I am certain they never intended to honor the contract.”
