Light meter in excellent condition , packed in a bomb-proof fashion , with a teabag included to make a nice cup of Yorkshire tea What's not to like ? West Yorkshire Cameras are highly recommended by me .

A great little company run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. I have bought quite a few things over the years and always found the descriptions accurate and the shipping speedy and well packed. On the one and only occasion I had to return an item the issue was resolved gracefully and quickly. I am sure that I will keep returning and for that reason the website is high up in my bookmarks list.

My first order with WY Cameras and I couldn’t be more pleased. Camera exactly as described and very quickly despatched. Best of all a handwritten note, a free teabag and no invoice in the box to remind you how much money you’re spending on old cameras. Perfect.

Over the years I’ve purchased quite a few items from WYCs. The largest was a Thornton Pickard Ruby half plate camera, all complete with three plate holders. The outfit, ready to use, came with a beautifully handwritten letter from a member of staff who had used it. He explained that my camera had taken part in a television program from the Science Museum. Of course, not having a television set in my Derbyshire Peak District cottage, I was unable to watch this. I’ve just purchased a terribly grotty Nikon 105mm f2.5 Nikkor P, circa 1964, to use with an equally shabby black Nikon F. The lens has dented filter rim, black paint rubbed off the focus scallops and a measure of haze throughout. Faults like this can be used creatively (that’s what the late Roger Hicks told me) Anyone seen the price of a Nikon lens with Defocus Control? And all for £49 with a £1 charged for a rear lens cap to make the order qualify for free carriage. Delightful.

Ordered lens arrived promptly. Artefacts were present as decribed and, following cleaning, lens now working well. Thank you.

Certainly not the my first purchase - I have a tea caddy of Yorkshire Tea bags - and not my last with WYC, which is current my joint go-to photographic shop. The latest purchase was classed as 'ugly' but I think was (given its age) a good contender for 'average'. This is typical of WYC; in my experience their descriptions err on the pessimistic side which means that there's often a welcome surprise in addition to the tea bag, personalised card. Buying from them is like being invited to a party where you are made to feel welcome by people that take photography seriously but not themselves (just look around the website!) However, one thing that I seem to be at odds with in regards to others that has left reviews is customer communications. My experience is that many of my email queries and telephone calls have gone unanswered. On one of the few occasions I managed to get through by 'phone I received inaccurate info. This was later resolved with an email later and all ended well. But the next order (the subject of this review) was ordered on 10 April and I specifically asked for a delivery between 17 and 19 April. It was despatched to arrive on the 16 when no one was available to receive it. Luckily I managed to reschedule this delivery with the courier, but it was an unnecessary concern when you are hundreds of miles from home. In the great scheme of things unanswered emails and phone calls and a case of inaccurate info and a wrong delivery date are not major things - no one died. Front of house selling and advising customers face-to-face is what WYC do and they do it very well. But as anyone in marketing will tell you it's the little things that make the difference and back of house is important in growing and keeping customers as well.

Excellent 'Bricks & mortar' independent camera store! Bought off of these guys on several occasions and always been delighted with their service, description of the items, speedy dispatch, superb packaging with a 'nice touch' of including a few Yorshire tea bags! ... very thoughtful and appreciated. 5* all round service.

I was looking for a hard to find item, a Tamron AD2 mount for Nikon Ai. After much searching West Yorkshire Cameras had two in stock. Placed my order on the Friday and received it by the Tuesday. Allowing for the weekend and the Easter break, I thought that was an amazing service. I will definitely be using them again.

The ,l"unbranded" 4x5 film holders are an absolute bargain. I bought four of the exc 4x5. I got 4 fidelity elite holders, have tested all of them, and they are all in great working order. I will be looking to WYC to further enable by burgeoning 4x5 problem.

This is a great company to sell your Camera too. They offered me an excellent price for my Canon AE1 Program that was just sitting at home unused for many years, when it was worth a lot of money. They even arrange with DPD to pick it up from your house free of charge, saving you postage costs. They keep in touch with you all through the process, advising that it has been received. Then, when they accepted my camera after testing and agreeing on the price, they then emailed me saying the money should now be in my bank account, which it was. This is just the best customer service you could ever wish for. This is an easy five star company.
