The first fire with just a few tiny twigs and a piece of paper got pretty hot. We needed a way to have a small contained fire to cook a few food items on fishing trips and this fits the bill! It cools fairly quickly. I thought the grate was going to warp when heated, but it didn't. It seems to be made very well.
