As my mom says, I have a thing for bags. I researched a lot of different bags before choosing the Sunny 16 Voyager. I travel internationally every year, and only use a carry-on luggage backpack for clothes and smaller backpack as a personal item. I love bringing my Nikon D3500 and a few lenses with me on these trips, but on the last few trips, I struggled with how best to transport my gear safely while not having to drag along an extra backpack. I ended up putting my camera and one lens at a time in a small messenger bag, but I didn't love this approach because it wasn't as secure, and it caused a lot of pain on my neck from the weight. My camera gear was usually stored in a small sling bag which worked great as storage but impractical for taking with me anywhere.
What I love about the Voyager is that it looks like a normal backpack, but has all the features I look for in a travel bag--solid construction, tons of space and pockets, and lockable zippers. It's cute and features like the side opening to quickly grab my camera, and the port for charging, are just a bonus on top. I would 100% recommend purchasing the waist straps with the bag (they should honestly just be included) because it made a huge difference for distributing the weight.
I decided to test out my bag by taking it with me to the beach! My mom and I went to a dog park and I thought I'd try it out as a test run. The bag actually protected my gear from sand and the hot sun really well due to the thick canvas. The front pockets were perfect for holding a can of Coke, my phone, keys, etc. I threw my book in the section on top along with a few other items, with plenty of room to spare. I was happy with the bag overall, and can't wait to try it out on a road trip in a few weeks! (Thanks, Facebook algorithm!)
