I was nervous of using such a low cost stretchy velvet with good reason, it can be a real challenge to sew when you're making large items and even more challenging with a slippery lining. However, after experimenting with small panels at first, I soon got used to it and if you'd like to use it too, I would strongly recommend laying pieces flat on the floor and pinning every few inches - it may take a long time but the finished result will be worth the extra effort, and always top sew to make crisp edges. The fabric cost of decorating my four poster bed was around £75, I think the result certainly looks like it cost an awful lot more!
