The hitch works as advertised. I used it to relocate my 380 lbs dual sport 350 miles each way to a jumping off point for the start of a 4600 mile off road adventure ride through multiple states. Since my bike had an aggressive knobby tire on the back, it wasn't as easy to square up to the hitch as a non-knobby tire would have been. This made the bike have a tendency to lean just a bit either one way or the other, but was actually very secure. I didn't feel 100% secure with just the hooks on the ends of the provided handlebar straps, (although they were probably fine), so I added soft strap loops and chain links/quick links to ensure total security. The only thing I would change to the basic system if I was building it, would be to slightly lengthen the bottom pivot bolt about 1/8 to 1/4 inch and cross drill it for a safety pin just for added security. If the top bolt ever loosened up in the current configuration, it is possible for the bottom to disengage,(but it would have to loosen a lot before this happened). I really like the product and it saved me from removing my cargo rack and rooftop tent, plus, it is waaay easier to transport the bike than loading it in the bed. As an additional note; I found backing up with the bike easier than I thought it would be.
