“Great Company, Products and Staff! I love my Motow 18in tow hitch! If you're like me you get so tired of dealing with junk and I can tell you for sure without a doubt that the Motow hitches a very quality built product with a lot of thought and research put into it. Thanks for a great product! I've got two vintage bikes that I wouldn't just strap to this hitch unless I fully trusted it but I have no fears about this sturdy piece of equipment. Thanks Motow!”
“Cannot recommend for heavy motorcycles. I read the instructions, watched all the videos, read the instructions again. Did multiple test rides in my local area before long trip, and struggled with the bike rocking left-right. I know the handlebar straps have to be tight, and the wheel clamps very tight against the tires (which were sized for my specific tires). I ended up using redundant straps, because any slight loss of tension = violent shaking. I added grip friction tape to the wheel chock due to wild rocking at freeway speeds if hit bump. Helped a little.
I purchased the optional hitch stabilizer from Motow and everything was tight.
The bike was stable if the road was smooth - but still rocked badly with uneven freeway roads.
Before my 900 mile round trip I drained all the gas out of my tank to achieve 472 lb dry weight to see if that would help.
During my journey there were 5 episodes of severe rocking that caused me to pull over, take out any slack that may have developed in my 4 straps to the bars, loosen the wheel clamps - straighten the bike back up, then tighten as much as physically possible (pushing into the tire at sides per instructions). I was searching for used trailers before returning home, that is how concerned I was. But I did make it back home in one piece.
I will re-home this to someone with a very light dirt bike, or KTM 390 like in the videos and I am sure it will do OK.”
Bob,
I am sorry you're not having success at setting up your MoTow Motorcycle Tow Hitch correctly. You purchased this in January 2024 and haven't called or emailed MoTow for set-up support, which we would have gladly provided. Thank you for the picture you shared, as it tells a good story.
From your picture, I see you have introduced different handlebar straps and hooks. The set we provided is sufficient when placed properly. Use the straps we provided with the soft tie placed at the outside edge of the handle bars and the hook to the foot pegs or similarly rigid spot on the rear frame. repeat the other side, forming a "V" shape with the straps, from the handle bars to the rear hooks.
The tire cradle straps have duct tape or other material applied by you. This is not specified in the instructions and may be causing problems. This isn't necessary. You may need smaller cradle plates, which we can exchange for you. You may also need to inflate both tires more fully. Please check that they are fully inflated, because even a underinflated front tire can destabilize the tow.
Lastly, please share a picture of your hitch stabilizer installed. This is a critical anti-wobble feature, provided with all MoTow Tow Hitches, because it removes all the play from the receiver/hitch connection. An eighth of an inch of play can make the bike wobble.
Call us or email for more support.
“Unfortuately I have not had a chance to use the product yet, I had a trip scheduled at the end of this week where I was going to use the device, but had to cancel my trip.”
“It's being deliverd today, so this is just about the order process and customer service. It was all excellent! I accidentally had a wrong email address in my order due to an autofill I didn't catch. Jill at Motow responded to my message same day and corrected if for me.”
“Great idea. Needs refinement:
1. A way to hold swing arm in alignment while loading.
2. If the safety bolt is not removed before lowering the lift, the the whole shabang needs to be shipped back to Motow for repair. Surely, this can be engineered better, to make it mistake tolerant.
3. The clamb shell holding the tire is slippery like a hocky puck on ice. The tire rotates in the cuff too easily, even if tightend to the max. I pasted 3M anti-slip pads on, and got by, for now, but the whole design is not 150/70/R17 friendly, for a typical adventure bike of 485 pounds. I am going to have to hire a welding shop to manufacture a square version of this for the tire size (a vice design would be perfect).
In short, it is the most practical carrier I could find, that disappears in the trunk of my tow vehicle when not needed, no need to park a trailer and all the fuss that goes with that.
The customer service is outstanding, went above and beyond helping me out, on a holiday.”
Thank you for the feedback on your experience with the tire cradle plates. Stainless steel is slick, but the straps should more than do the job to hold the tire in place. It sounds like you a smaller size cradle, and I'm happy to swap them out if you like, or you can simply decrease the opening size a bit if you have the tools. Please call if you would like to to discuss options further. We want you to love your MoTow and have confidence in it.
“The order was 5 star. But the fact that what I really wanted to buy was the MoTo Scooter Rack that you must have discontinued since it is no longer offered on your Websters. This is very disappointing.”
Thanks for talking with me today, Jeffrey. I look forward to helping you in the future when we reintroduce the Scooter Carrier later this summer. Enjoy your MoTow Tow Hitch! Jill
“So I had to retrieve my Triumph from service which had to be done at a shop that is just over 50 miles from my home. I had unboxed the MoTow unit the night before then installed just the lift portion. I needed just a little help from a passerby at the service shop, he offered, I accepted. (This was to get the rear tyre into the chock). The trip back was uneventful and was mostly Interstate 4 up to 60mph. The MoTow performed very well.”
John, Thanks for taking time to provide your review of the MoTow Motorcycle Tow Hitch! We're so pleased that you had a good experience and got the transport home from service without event. Best wishes for many great rides on the Triumph!
“Was interested in this product for a few years but didn't quit know if it was for me. Just purchased it this past week and only did a short test run, but it lives up to the hype super easy to use, easy to put a bike on alone, easy to store and bike rolls nicely behind without even noticing it's back there. I'm hoping for years of motowing to come. Dealing with the company and specifically Jill has been nothing short of amazing, great people who care about you and your bike. Made it the USA. Ohio based!🤙

John, our first review request is about your ordering experience. The second is about your product experience and follows 2 weeks after shipping. I apologize for the extra email traffic in our zeal for feedback. We certainly don't intend to offend or get unqualified reviews prior to your experience. Best wishes to you.

“Jill with MoTow, helped me to order a Moto motorcycle hitch correctly on the web site. Jill was very patient and listened carefully. She also listened to my many rambling stories, many would have cut short!.”
“Ordering the product from your website was straightforward and easy. I received an email confirmation of my order right away. Since that initial email the only other correspondence I have received is this survey. I went to the website to check my order status and discovered there is no order status field to input my order number into. I do see where I can email the company with my inquiry, but it would be nice to be able to check order status from website.”
Tony, Thank you for your feedback on your ordering experience. Your order shipped in one day and we emailed a UPS and MoTow tracking number to your email address at that time. The email may have landed in your spam folder. Your advice to have an order tracking lookup function on the MoTow site is valuable. We are going to do that so its easier to check on orders going forward. Thanks for making time to help us get better!
“The motorcycle tow hitch is a really nice design, and it is fabricated from stainless, it is a premium product. But I had 3 problems with the hitch I received. (1) The lower pivot tab was bent upward significantly (I think this was done prior to shipping since the shipping box wasn't damaged, and the plastic wrap at the tab wasn't torn; (2) The holes to connect the hitch drawbar to the base of the MoTow jack assembly were drilled 1/8" too close to each other - obviously this wasn't test fit during fabrication, and I had to slot a set of the holes to assemble; (3) one side of the thru-hole for the coupling hitch pin was probably about 0.010" to small in diameter, so I had to ream that side out just to get a hitch pin through. Considering the price and the stainless parts, I'm really disappointed in fabrication.”
John,
Thanks for your candid review and for talking with me recently about your situation. As promised, we will ship you a replacement Motorcycle Tow Hitch that has been QC'd properly. We are eager to get your MoTow unit back and review it with our Order Fulfillment staff.

MoTow
“This was recommended to me by a motorcycle friend and I'm now recommending it to everyone! The MoTow works beautifully and the quality of materials and construction is impressive. I towed my V-Strom adventure bike around town, in and out of parking lots, drive-thru windows and hundreds of miles at freeway speeds. Should have purchased this YEARS ago instead of several small trailer solutions.”
“It was missing the hitch stabilizer which according to my parts list was standard, but Motow said it was optional. I can’t see why, I tried towing it a short distance at slow speed and I can see and hear the hitch bouncing around.
But because I did use it just the one test run, they will not take it back.
The front wheel has to be perfectly in line with the rear, I tried strapping the handle bars at the grips bit it started gouging them and the directions say not to over tighten. So, I felt it was just not stable enough and that was no faster than 35 mph, I can’t imagine higher speeds on the highway.
I could not find one single negative review. I’m an avid rider, but not reckless. We all know that the road can be unforgiving, and towing in this manner you’re just asking for trouble. Sorry for the negative review, but I have to be honest”
“Sold my Jeep and the new car's receiver was a smaller 1.25 size. It was a swing-out affair with a pin placement constraint and MoTow worked with me to get a perfect fit. Love the rack, love the customer service.”
“Good customer service.
There were some quality control issues. Some parts did not fit together as they should have, and a hole was drilled too small. I fixed these myself.
Great design !”
