“Great idea. Needs refinement:
1. A way to hold swing arm in alignment while loading.
2. If the safety bolt is not removed before lowering the lift, the the whole shabang needs to be shipped back to Motow for repair. Surely, this can be engineered better, to make it mistake tolerant.
3. The clamb shell holding the tire is slippery like a hocky puck on ice. The tire rotates in the cuff too easily, even if tightend to the max. I pasted 3M anti-slip pads on, and got by, for now, but the whole design is not 150/70/R17 friendly, for a typical adventure bike of 485 pounds. I am going to have to hire a welding shop to manufacture a square version of this for the tire size (a vice design would be perfect).
In short, it is the most practical carrier I could find, that disappears in the trunk of my tow vehicle when not needed, no need to park a trailer and all the fuss that goes with that.
The customer service is outstanding, went above and beyond helping me out, on a holiday.”
Thank you for the feedback on your experience with the tire cradle plates. Stainless steel is slick, but the straps should more than do the job to hold the tire in place. It sounds like you a smaller size cradle, and I'm happy to swap them out if you like, or you can simply decrease the opening size a bit if you have the tools. Please call if you would like to to discuss options further. We want you to love your MoTow and have confidence in it.
“Ordering the product from your website was straightforward and easy. I received an email confirmation of my order right away. Since that initial email the only other correspondence I have received is this survey. I went to the website to check my order status and discovered there is no order status field to input my order number into. I do see where I can email the company with my inquiry, but it would be nice to be able to check order status from website.”
Tony, Thank you for your feedback on your ordering experience. Your order shipped in one day and we emailed a UPS and MoTow tracking number to your email address at that time. The email may have landed in your spam folder. Your advice to have an order tracking lookup function on the MoTow site is valuable. We are going to do that so its easier to check on orders going forward. Thanks for making time to help us get better!
“Good customer service.
There were some quality control issues. Some parts did not fit together as they should have, and a hole was drilled too small. I fixed these myself.
Great design !”
“I like the concept but the design had some flaws. First, the ratchet that hold the bike 's wheel are too bulky. The bottom one I destroyed when I encounter a dip. The rest is holding on very well. Nothing, came lose or had any issues while traveling!!”
“I purchased the 18" adjustable motorcycle hitch as a means to transport my KTM Duke 390 (about 400 pounds) for an upcoming out-of-state move. There was a shipment delay of several weeks due to back order. There was no communication regarding the matter until I called about a week after I ordered the item. I was offered the 24" with no delay, but decided to wait. My only recommendation would be that the company provide order updates so the customer doesn't wonder what's going on. I docked the review by one star because of the communication matter.
I did a test run of the product hitched to a 2020 Honda CRV. I had installed a rear view camera just to keep an eye on it. I must admit I was initially nervous about pulling the motorcycle. But, the nervousness wore off after 20 miles of testing on winding roads and the interstate.”
“The product finiish looks great, welds look well done, attaches to car receiver okay. Exceptions are the following:
1. The 5/8" hole in the receiver to attach a bike rack, or receiver extension, seems not to be drilled in a standard position. I had to cut off 5/16 of my bike rack hitch to get to a hole, then enlarge that hole to be able to attach to the lift. The lift hole is placed horizontally too close to the vertical lift bar.
2. The vertical lift travel arm, housing the screw, could be a tighter fit with its main vertical support, it wobbles side to side.
3. The electric lift motor works well but is a little slow.
4. Little contact from seller after placing the order. The only acknowledgment was they received my payment and order number. No shipping info, delivery date.”
Richard,
Thank you for leaving your review!
What kind of bike rack are you attaching to the Hitch Lift? We haven't had any complaints regarding the hole placement/size before, so I would love to chat about how we can improve our product.
You should have received emails from UPS regarding the shipping information and shipping ETA. Please contact us if you did not receive those, as that might be an issue on our email provider's end.
If you have any questions or want to chat about the fitment of your bike rack to the Hitch Lift please reach out.
We hope you love your MoTow!
“We are very happy with the rack after purchasing an additional set of straps for the upper cradles. They need to be standard like the lower cradles. The rack is rock solid and easy to install.
If the upper cradles had straps, I would have given it 5 Stars”
