To say this book blew me away is an understatement. As a professional stunt performer for TV/film, I’m pretty much always accommodating some sort of annoying injury or compensation issue as a result of literally hitting the ground for a living. After months of what seemed like a never ending cycle of pain management to heal my Achilles, I stumbled upon SaltWrap while searching for some sort of “real relief”… not just a band aid or magic potion to “get me by”- I wanted my life back… This book, Built From Broken has helped identify some of the modalities I’ve been doing on a regular basis that are not only preventing me from getting past the injury, but also holding back any sort of progress to move beyond the injury and strengthen my entire body’s joints and tendons as a whole. I had been following the “common protocols” that are from long-held beliefs and modalities in the world of injury management that I’d been told my entire life- but to NO avail! This book turns the science on its head and explains the concepts in easy-to-read-and-understand chapters. For nerds like me, the material offers a deep dive into the science behind body mechanics and how to best go about building one’s joints for a lifetime of resilience rather than just “getting by” on a day to day basis. I’ve employed the exercises outlined in the book for the past 2 weeks… and even though it’s pretty early in my journey of “built from broken”, I can honestly say I feel a thousand times better already- My mobility has improved, and the nagging hyper-awareness I’ve been so focused on has started to diminish and I finally feel like I’m no longer walking on eggshells. Just feeling empowered by this extensive research has helped my mental game so much in moving forward and actually working towards confidently strengthening my joints and tendons, rather than constantly guarding them. My massage therapist (who is incredible) has also purchased this book on my recommendation and she’s blown away like I am… I can’t recommend this book enough to anyone who is tired of the constant run around of joint pain management and really wants to HEAL themselves for better strength and mobility in their lifetime. Scott has compiled an incredible amount of information, backed by tons of research and over 250 references that deal with joint pain management in this book- I highly recommend reading this. You will NOT be disappointed!
