Students play extra-curricular games that tie directly into each lesson plan. They each get to take home a practice writing and coloring page with a song to sing about the progress for each day. “The Learning Dynamics system is easy to implement, but my children (ages 5 and 7) find it to be juvenile and slow-moving. They want to do more letters per day and think the songs are annoying. If I had started this while they were younger, it may have been better, but my struggling first grader and preschooler do not like it the way it is written. That said, however, we did Lesson 6 today with blends, and not only were they able to do the two-letter blends, but they were reading all different words that used combinations of the letters in lessons 1-5. Going forward, we will adapt it to meet our needs by leaving out the songs and moving a bit faster.”
“Very unique and effective approach to reading. My son already knows all of his letter sounds so we are working on the blending of letters and he’s tackling that like a champ. I love the little books and flash cards but the workbook could be a little more sturdy. I feel that it’s a little flimsy for children. I’ve been making copies of it and store the papers in a folder so that I can take them out individually when we’re working on specific letters. Thank you!!”
