“Two months ago, my son (just turned 5) couldn’t read any words, knew all his letters and sounds and asked me why he couldn’t read. So i made it my mission and read every review for almost every reading program and settled on this one. We have now read all the blue books and moving on to the red vowel books. 4 weeks to read means that your child can read a word in four weeks. Not actual sentences. You can not rush something like reading. It takes practice and repetition for words to be recognized by sight. He enjoyed doing these lessons since they are short and can hold his attention and the songs are catchy, so much that I find both of my kids singing them randomly. We went through all of the lessons for review even though he knew his letter sounds. Be sure to be pronouncing the letter sounds correctly or they won’t be sounding them out correct. Also blending with the motor running helped me teach him the concept of sounding out actual words. Rereading books until the words are solid and then moving on helps with word recognition and the words repeat in later books. I also wrote down words he had trouble with on index cards and just randomly asked throughout the weeks what it was. Overall I think this is a great program because I’m a nurse working during the pandemic and it gave me the right tools to teach my son to read after a long day of work!”
“We love this program! My 3 year old and my 6 year old are completely engaged. My older child had already finished kindergarten, and helping her sister helped her cement all these sounds and improve her reading drasticallty. Meanwhile the 3 year old is reading. Before attending preschool. They absolutely love the songs, and simple workbook pages. They especially love the reward system and call them their letter badges.
As a parent this system works so well for me. I am already musically minded and so do enjoy the songs. Frankly this system is the simplest on the market to navigate and from our experience is effective at teaching phonics, even if they don’t start reading right away.
