“On the whole this is an excellent bike, and a great all rounder.
PROS
Bosch system- very well thought through, natural input of battery power to reflect and translate your movement. Customisation of settings via app is helpful, although for my commute I’d love to be able to override the torque sensor (for one really steep hill) so it just worked on cadence, and thus allowed me to get to work without sweating (to avoid showering, change of clothes etc)
Interesting construction, detailing, colour and graphics. Not that I got it for this, but I’ve had a load of heads turned, positive feedback, ‘wow’ moments and people just generally think it looks cool. And it does. The colour take a little getting used to but I love it now.
Geometry, suspension, handling, components- all great for the money.
CONS
The biggest and most disappointing one could be an oversight by Bosch or 99 - but I’m sure both would point the finger elsewhere - around a week after purchase I noticed a knocking at the front end.
After investigation I found both front caliper bolts almost completely unthreaded from the mounting stud and about to fall off, along with the brake caliper. This, just before my wife and baby were about to take their first ride on it, and on our local steep hills too. Horrifying.
The caliper mounting bolts had loctite on them, yet they’d come loose. Dodgy loctite application in the first place, or someone had removed and re-fitted the bolt without putting fresh loctite back on, or forget to properly tighten. Either way, a very bad look.”
“The Bike is a good balance of price and components the Battery range is good. I found the suspension capable on Beginner and intermediate MTB trails with small jumps but the tyres will need to upgraded for this purpose.”
“Awesome bike! Very capable offroad, but to go on adventures on footpaths around town. Very comfy, the electrics are easy to use, and super helpful on hills! Gets up to speed really quick, good brakes, looks super smart on the road.
