“The pedals work very well as a good all-round option if you want to vary between hiking/sport shoes and Shimano clipless (SPD) shoes. The platform side is large enough for larger mens shoes and the screw in lugs are effective (Note: the small plastic packet the lugs are provided in is not obvious and could be missed inside the box for the pedals). The clipless side holds shoes securely, but is easy to clip out of if you need to frequently disengage for commuting (much easier than my previous M424 double sided pedals). The only downsides are that no side is weighted sufficiently to remain downwards, so you have to check which side to engage and sometimes flip the pedal (less easy at night) and also that the non-SPD side lugs may damage soft sole or leather sole shoes.”
