“Initially I thought too short as tying up would need to be to a bike pole only as I had a stretchy cable prior to this that could stretch around posts and thick poles- but after adapting to that I do like it because it is minimal and quite when riding - not rattling around like the previous stretchy combination cable cafe lock / one thing that could be good is if it did have some stretch in it so it could be locked against thicker posts and poles”
“Really difficult to roll the numbers over. Lock is light duty - so suitable for a quick pitstop and a minor theft deterrent. But the combo is so hard and slow to use, the lock is just a nuisance. Terrible lock”
“I had my bike stolen whilst using this lock.
To my surprise the thief didn’t cut it, they just twisted it round on itself multiple times. This is the second Hiplock product that has failed on me within a year. The ratcheting mechanism is also a bit hot and miss- the strap has to be dead straight for it to work properly.
With all that said, it’s not officially sold as a bike lock, but for accessories. It’s also a very handy lightweight form factor which is why I bought another one, but would not trust it as anything more than a deterrent for a very short period. Also, Bunnings do an almost identical lock for under $10 which does exactly the same thing…
In short, great idea but could be much better engineered.”
