“Normally I would rate this at five stars however the two chains I purchased were to replace two identical chains that had developed several cracks. Both chains were well within wear limit tolerance. One CN-M7100 had cracks only on the inboard plates and the other only on the outboard plates. One chain suffered a complete failure. I visited 99 Bikes Fyshwick ACT for advice and on seeing the chains they felt it may possibly be a batch issue and requester I email them the details and photos. I promptly did as requested. This was a while ago and to this point I haven’t received an acknowledgement of the information or any reply at all. I was surprised at both the Shimano failures and 99 Bikes not following up as intended.”
“I have only ridden about 40kms on new chain and cassette. Chain seems of good quality and shifting is smooth. I can’t say that it is any better than the KMC X12 which was originally fitted to my bike. So I would recommend using whichever is priced best at the time.”
