“Thule have nailed the rear baby seat with the RideAlong. The seat is well made, and has some natural "suspension" to smooth out the ride. The RideAlong fits directly onto your bike frame (down tube), saving on the the expense, weight and limitations of a rack. I have it fitted to my (aluminum) mountain bike, and purchased a 2nd bracket, which I fitted to my partner's city bike. Swopping the seat between bikes takes 2 minutes.
Read the manual carefully when installing the bracket and seat. You need to 1. give enough tyre clearance to allow for the downward motion of the seat, and 2. slide the seat forward so the center of gravity is almost over the read axle. If the seat is set all the way back, you are going to have a very light front end, which is pretty dangerous. It's all detailed in the instructions.
