Always love maxxis tyres from 99.

Two rides on two brand new tyres with one torn, totally ruined, and the other punctured by a stick on fire trails. Very disappointed with fragility of these tyres as I expected a lot better.

Very calm, planted tyre that grips well. Goes where i put it and tends to stay there & tracks well. This is a better tyre for my riding, a mix of all discipines, that the Schwalbe Magic Mary front tyre i had on before. Seems to ride well too, rolling over rocks & stones with not a lot of shock coming through the bars. Lots of tread blocks evenly distributed over the whole tyre which is what i wanted and seems to be paying off. Over all a great tyre. I plan on getting a softer MaxxGrip and putting this on the front & the existing Terra on the rear. Might be a perfect combo for me. The Assegai is supposed to be a slow inefficient rolling tyre but i have not noticed much difference to the Magic Mary (also not the most efficient tyre there is apparently). An Assegai on the rear will be relacing a Scwalbe Hans Dampf SpeedGrip which is a fast rolling tyre so i may then notice a difference in efficiency. This is on an electric eMTB so efficiency wise, not as big a deal as if on an analogue bike. Downside is a lot of money for a bicycle tyre. And i thought motorcycle tyres were an outrageous price for what they are. Car tyres are a bargain and last 20 & 4 times longer respectively.
